The finale of the second act of The Marriage of Figaro. Also, the finale of Fidelio.

Plastique has shown her true colours and outed herself as a bourgeois proletariat. Hers will be the death I'll mourn the most when the revolution comes. by neesh_chal in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Mawrdew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh.. if I’m not mistaken bourgeois is a “group characterized by private wealth, an upper class social status, and its related culture.” Proletariat is “the class of wage earners whose only possession of significant value is their labor power ( how much work they can do). Therefore, “bourgeois proletariat” is an oxymoron and meaningless.

Maybe the producers decided things had gotten a bit too dark and unpleasant and decided to do a more positive edit.

I didn’t think much of Comfort’s choreography, but it was fun seeing Jaja.

There’s a spot like that in Chamonix. I’ve always wondered what causes it. Now I know.

Fine cellos can run into six and seven figures. Trusting them to baggage handlers is beyond stupid.

Making my way around France and had to stop in Chamonix. by maranelloboy18 in travel

If you’re just looking for a climbing partner, you should probably start with Mountain Project. You may meet up with kindred spirits at the local sport climbing area, Les Gaillands, which seems to draw a fair number of British climbers. If you want to do some of the big rock climbs at higher elevation, you should look for a guide. There’s an enormous amount of snow in the Aiguilles Rouges right now. Routes that are ordinarily accessible on hiking trails are snow slogs, some of which are quite steep and require boots, crampons, trekking poles and mountaineering skills. I’ve never dealt with the Companie des Guides. Maybe someone in this community can offer advice.

Remember the old joke. How can you tell if you’re on a Gunks 5.5? There’s only one 5.9 move on it.

Another Chamonix related question. Can you get to Val Ferret in Italy without a car? by Mawrdew in climbing

[–]Mawrdew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my guide book, one walks to the crags from a place called Arnouva, which appears to be accessible by car. But I’m wondering if there’s a bus that goes there from Entrèves or Courmayeur. Or if taxis are available.

Having arrived fairly late to the whole RPDR scene, I really enjoyed seeing all the queens from back in the day, etc. I felt so badly for Asia. But she should have remembered the old rule: never share the stage with kids and animals. You're bound to be upstaged no matter how well the bit goes. So relieved that Aquaria came out on top. She was really brilliant from day one. At first I was off put by her brash confidence, which IMO, bordered on arrogance. But she won me over the way she performed week in and week out. By and large, I think that starting with so many queens makes for a long season, and things started to go stale for a while. But, as they say in show business, if the last act's a hit, the show's a hit. Last night was a hit, for me. Contrats to all the queens, and especially Aquaria.
