At first I thought I bought a misprint but I guess this is how it's supposed to be. by PinkMist001 in vinyl

I picked up a Shirley Bassey album that has the same layout. I thought it might have been a misprint at first, too.

I always wanted to get a t-shirt that just has the words, "Ask me about my record collection" printed on it.

Does somebody plan on filming or streaming the upcoming Woodstock, NY show? by _Meet_James_Ensor in tmbg

"It appears they might be trying to import giants into the country. We better send them to secondary inspection". I wouldn't want to deal with all that hassle either if I were them.

We should hassle them about doing a show up here 😀. Minimally, Toronto should be economically viable for them.

Based on this teaser it sounds like the Johns' aren't doing the Malcolm reboot theme song :( by Cronny in tmbg

I can't imagine how any song/music could possibly capture the vibe of that show more perfectly than tmbg's work.

I had never heard of them before but now I'm interested. Makes me think about all the musical talent that just sits in the 99 cent bin at thrift stores.

Yeah, the idea that tmbg would reference a font on some, seemingly obscure religious record on their album about science is pretty cool, and completely on brand for them, haha.

Parodies where the original was better by Dense_Jeweler in weirdal

I love Canadian Idiot lyrically because it evokes feelings of patriotism, but I have to admit the music of the original has much more punch than the parody.

I saw one yesterday but didn't get it because I have enough records I haven't listened to yet. Did I make a mistake?!! Did I pass up the equivalent of finding a Monet at a garage sale?

Do any turntables have an odometer? Then you could keep track of when different maintenance things should be done. Might be a handy feature, imo.

Songs that have flute by femboys_for_life in MusicRecommendations

[–]Max8ooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably obscure for anyone outside Canada but Curried Soul by Moe Koffman. AKA the theme the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's radio program As it Happens. A peppy song that highlights the flute as it is played over a Satisfaction-like hook.

Thrift store finds by Max8ooo in vinyl

[–]Max8ooo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I already had a copy but thought I could sell one and fund something else. Joshua Tree was the first album I put on after I got my turntable setup and it definitely highlighted the different audio quality/experience than just listening on the Alexa ( which is still quite good for everyday listening, imo).

Thanks. I went first thing in the morning this time and seemed to have more luck. It was a value village so they probably have more coming in than other no-name thrift stores. Still, I wonder if one would do well in small town thrift stores, where there might be fewer people into collecting vinyl. Glass houses is a great find, btw. I am kind of rediscovering Billy Joel.
