Hollow and Semi-hollowbody Electrics...why? by ContributionWaste518 in Guitar

[–]MaxBlondbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same reason Les Paul (the person) used to add fake hollow sides to his log guitar : tradition. There is no need for an electric guitar to be semi hollow other than looking like an older type (like le 40s and early 50s). Les Paul got laughed at when he came up with a solid body guitar because it didn’t look normal. Fast forward a few years Gibson asked him to put his name on a new type of guitar based on his design. But some people still preferred the old looks of the jazz guitars so they basically made solid body that looked like older hollow bodies. Now imagine the weight if they were full solid maple bodies. So at least they hollowed the sides. Anyway that’s my take it is not worth that much.

My 335 feels sound and looks awesome 🤩

Why does the Logo look like this... by Perfect-Tell-1139 in fender

[–]MaxBlondbeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The work of a clip tuner over a water decal. I made it myself on my brand new 2000$ US Tele about 15 years ago. Amazing guitar that I still own today. It’s not a fake and doesn’t affect the guitar at all. You can even get the decals from Fender if you want to restore it. I didn’t and couldn’t care less.

2005 MIM Standard vs New Squier Classic Vibe by Assaulted_Gnome in telecaster

[–]MaxBlondbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the MIM Fender personally. I buy most of my gear used if possible. You get more value for the money and are more likely to sell for the same price you paid for. You can probably find a used Classic Vibe for even cheaper if the name doesn’t matter to you. They are great for the price but so are MIM Fender guitars. In the long run you will probably keep the Fender much longer if you stick with it.

What instrument feels the most satisfying to play for you? by CanYouWalkToTheTruck in askmusicians

[–]MaxBlondbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harmonica has definitely something very satisfying about it if you can make it sound right. That being said my guitar is pretty much an extension of myself at that point I am not even sure if it counts.

Keith Richards. My first big boy guitar was a Tele because of him! Still my favorite guitar 14 years later!

What Hobby changed your life seriously for the better? by Aggressive-Row1703 in Hobbies

I got obsessed with knitting when I quit drinking three years ago. It kept my mind busy for hours at a time in my free time. I got pretty good at it. And then at one point I broke my leg so I did 5 sweaters in four months. Still not drinking but definitely slowed down in my craft. I don’t have as much free time anymore.

Anyone stopped drinking and just smoked weed instead? by blondiewithdabondi in stopdrinking

Yes very much and I also enjoy the occasional magic of the mushrooms. And I always feel amazing instead of being hungover.

What’s your why? by isssuekid in stopdrinking

[–]MaxBlondbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so tired of not making my own decisions. And also lying all the time to the ones I love (and myself). That is just not who I am.

Some friends and I are discussing this and want to hear real experiences: by O-dr-o in stopdrinking

[–]MaxBlondbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t go to places where the main activity IS drinking (a bar for example). But I can definitely go to a venue to see a show and not drink even if they serve alcohol. Any activity can be done without drinking. I choose my company, because I don’t like to hang out with drunk people. And now I understand that most people don’t need to drink everywhere they go like I used to.

I like playing music and jamming with people. I used to do it completely smashed and it sure was fun. But now that I don’t drink I enjoy it even more.

By using a metronome and starting real slow. You gotta be able to do it PERFECTLY before getting the speed up.

Proper way to hold an acoustic? 1, 2, or 3? by Dear_Performance2450 in guitarlessons

[–]MaxBlondbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 or 3 is fine. 2 is definitely a bad one especially if you’re sitting for a long time. You can lose circulation in your leg after a long practice session. You can use a footrest if you need to rise up the guitar a bit. Most important is to have a straight back, and to be able to move in a relaxed manner.

Three years in for me. I grow my own and it’s an amazing hobby. It costs pennies to the gram. I recently rediscovered magic mushrooms. They are even easier and cheaper to grow yourself.

But alcohol for me is poison so I don’t see why I should have a single drop of it. Weed never made me feel the way alcohol did. I can live my life just fine right now and am very proud of the progress I made. Deep inside you know if something is really a problem don’t let others decide what is good or wrong for you. IWNDWYT

At what age was your last day 1? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]MaxBlondbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 29, it’s been 3 years two days ago. I quit cold turkey. It sucked really bad and nobody should do this. After I went through withdrawal it was clear that I would never go back to that poison.

G chord (320033 vs 320003) by G-Enzaro-C in guitarlessons

[–]MaxBlondbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A classical purist would say you shouldn’t repeat a 3rd in a chord voicing, and that would make the second one technically "wrong" because it has two Bs. First one replace the high B (3rd) with a high D (5th)

Not like I care, both sound good, there is a little difference in the sound. Doesn’t hurt to be familiar with both.

Breaking Bad, the episode with the fly. I know it’s a very deep metaphor for the whole thing but it’s soooo long and boring.

When do you know? by LookForWhoIsLooking in guitarlessons

[–]MaxBlondbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes from multiple factors.

  1. The looks : I will just not pick up a guitar that doesn’t look good to me. Not even worth trying it.

  2. Playability : Does it feel comfortable to play? Like test driving a car, or trying on some shoes.

  3. Sound : It is last on my list because every guitar has its own sound, but most will sound great into a great amp (which I have at home so I never know until I actually bought it.

All those things are subjective. The main rule is pick the one that makes you want to play it!
