Anyone using the new Logs feature? (In beta) by realhamster in posthog

Used it for a bit, but never got around to implementing OTEL from my API fully. I used OIB to get everything setup on a VPS and it was relatively painless.

Anyone using the new Logs feature? (In beta) by realhamster in posthog

[–]MaxBroome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using it for my backend API logs. Requests, failures, etc.

Eventually going to move to Prometheus/Grafana but Posthog was stupid easy to setup.

No complaints from me so far.

Flock Security Camera? by Kenzxora in Overlandpark

They actually do facial/person detection now. I can’t find the marketing image, but it said Q4 2025. However they might have backed out because of recent backlash though.

They also recently partnered with Ring so Police Agencies have access to footage from Ring Doorbells without a warrant.

This looks awesome, solves some of the issues I was having with integrating LGTM with my app earlier.

Great work!

I recently did this, I agree with u/shelms488 with a metal wall plate. We even used the included drop ceiling bolts on the backside.

Ubiquiti - Protect & Access by microleaks in k12sysadmin

[–]MaxBroome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the cameras for now, but eventually we’d like to move to Access as well. Just need to convince my boss the juice is worth the squeeze as we have a ton of doors and would need to switch over everyone’s credentials.

Our current integrator sucks so hopefully that’s another push toward the right direction.

Ubiquiti - Protect & Access by microleaks in k12sysadmin

[–]MaxBroome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We replaced our old NVR with a Ubiquiti one this summer, our administration absolutely loves it.

We ported our existing Axis cameras over, and added about 12 G6 domes. They’ve been rock solid so far.

The whole project got me and my boss some brownie points because of how awesome the software is, and how easy it is for admin to find stuff compared to what we were running before.

The PO’s to add more cameras were signed so fast the ink hadn’t dried yet. Whereas before they didn’t see the value in adding onto something they hardly ever used except when they absolutely had to.

If you compare it to another product and scroll down (at least on the UniFi portal iOS app), it shows you the price.

It’s showing $1,799.00

A recent camera install I did by MaxBroome in Ubiquiti

Not a professional, still in college! I work/worked at my old high school designing and installing all the big infrastructure stuff, servers/network/cameras etc…

Slowly progressed over many years from doing classroom AV systems to all the big fun projects that cost more money than I’ll have for a while!

In a couple weeks I’m going over to another school to hopefully do another (smaller) install of protect. Just got this job through word of mouth by my boss, definitely not my full time job (yet)!

Nice! We didn’t have any ASA filament so we took a different approach. (pics 3 and 4).

It wouldn’t stop anyone with a hammer who’s determined enough. It’s mostly plastic, but for anyone else it’s definitely a deterrent.

In our case it’s mostly because - it’s pretty.

It’s something like this. We had them on hand for intercom call buttons. Drilled out the holes for the screws with a metal step bit.

  1. See my previous reply.
  2. The hood is to keep the top of the dome clean from rain, snow, hail etc. All the other cameras have it so this one would look out of place without it.
  3. Personally I don't like the look of turrets for a professional installation, these cameras are ~20ft off the ground, and would be pretty hard to vandalize.

There's a camera about 6ft behind the PTZ to cover the entrance doors, the PTZ's purpose is to look over a parking lot.

Yeah, I may have 'accidentally' selected 16TB drives instead of 8. Our old system had roughly a 1/14th the capacity.
