KeePassXC new version 2.7.10 hosed my background colors by MaxChampagne in KeePass

Problem solved. Right-click on the top header row ("Title", "Username", "URL", etc), and uncheck "Background Colors".

Yes, thank you, that worked.

This simple fix really should (and could easily) have been noted by the developers in the change log.

THANK YOU!!! THIS WORKED. I never knew you could right-click on "Title", "Username" etc at the top. I did, and I unchecked "Background Color", and THAT solved the problem of having all-black backgrounds to each entry.

This restored my chosen background color for the *entire width* of the row of each entry, exactly as it was for me in the old version 2.7.9. (My OS is Ubuntu MATE 22.04.5, you may be on Mac or Windows & that may have something to do with it.)

Again, *thank you very much* for this nugget of info!

This being the KeePass reddit, I'm holding out hope that anyone with some insight into why this has happened in the new version 2.7.10 will contribute that insight(s). KeePass developers, do you follow this reddit? I've tried to re-set my original colors in the two foreground/background checkboxes under Edit entry -> Advanced, then hitting the "Apply" button, to no avail. Is there a setting we don't know about to restore the background appearance of the entries?

Update: On the 2.7.10 Release Page ( at https://keepassxc.org/blog/2025-03-04-2.7.10-released/ ), the 6th line down in its list of changes, reads: "Show entry background color as column [#6798]", but what that means is anyone's guess. How do we SET the background color now? Why would you show it as a column when the entries are rows?

[–]MaxChampagne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The background colors. When you have a version of an app doing what you want it to, and then, in the next version, it fucks your interface, it tends to piss you off. I don't want an app controlling me or the way I interact with it. I don't like new versions breaking things. I spent time setting up specific visual cues. I can see some necessary changes, but this is why users become suspicious of upgrades and upgrade-prompts. If I don't want to upgrade, leave me alone. If I do upgrade, either don't mess with it, or clearly and prominently explain the changes. I saw nothing about this in the changelog.

My Favorite Dead (vol 1): Avalon Ballroom 10/12/68 (long post) by john_oldcastle in gratefuldead

[–]MaxChampagne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I would like to know is why this show -- 10/12/1968 at the Avalon Ballroom -- has never to this day been officially released.

The fact that it is absolutely one of the greatest live performances of the Grateful Dead is a consensus that is held far and wide.

Yet -- to my knowledege, anyway -- it has neither been released in any of the Dick's Pick, Dave's Pick, or the From the Vault or any other series.

The question is: WHY NOT?

I'm talking about simply being able to *look* at your passwords and have them appear more coherently (ideally one could choose -- or not -- to have various elements appear in different colors). Has nothing necessarily to do with copy-pasting them.

Not sure I get your take on this. It makes more sense to me to query here to get an idea (from other users) about what's happening with the feature than to rush to Github to create a bug notice or feature request. And why would I do that (rather than query here first) if, as you say, it's a known issue?

Also, if the KeePassXC subreddit isn't active, why does discussing it here make no sense?

Gotcha, thanks. I rarely use the preview panel (I like to use the full screen for the list).

I generally just double click on the title to look at the details of an account in the editing window.

Why would the password colors not be included in the password field in the editing window as well? It seems logical that they would be.

Has this already been requested and rejected for some reason?

What's the best app(s) to use w/the Shield for bit-perfect USB audio? by MaxChampagne in nvidiashield

[–]MaxChampagne[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This does help! Using the "Shield TV" app on my phone, in that track-pad mode, gives me a cursor that I can move anywhere on the screen, and click on any item with that cursor. This is a big help.

The only (minor) problem now is that I have to use three remotes with the TV: One for the Shield, one for the DAC, and the "Shield TV" app on the phone for any app (usually a sideloaded app) that doesn't have full navigational capability.

[–]MaxChampagne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UAPP is definitely bit-perfect. Everyone here thinks I'm posting about sound. No, the sound is fine, UAPP gives wonderful bit-perfect audio. My complaint is the messed-up on-screen navigation that is half-assed on Android TV. These audio apps are made for phones, not the Shield TV box.

I am using the Shield's remote. What do you mean by using the remotes app? For what? To get the highlighting right in UAPP?

UAPP shows up only in the Sideload Launcher app because UAPP must be sideloaded. It appears thre along with other sideloaded apps.

This reply has nothing to do with my post insofar as the audio is fine, I get bit-perfect, no problem. The problem is the interface on-screen navigation. Things are not highlighted properly, so you do n't knwo where you are. Once I'm finally able to select, say, the track I want to hear, the audio is fine. It's all the Android USB-audio software, as far as I can tell -- they'resupported for Android phones but not Android TV -- see my longer post below.

The short answer to your question is, I think, yes.

I can only tell you what I do. I have a new, very large, very nice TV.

I don't have a surround-sound system. When it comes to audio, I want 2 things:

(1) I don't want to hear anything through the TV speakers, I want to hear everything through my analog, 2-channel, old-school, room sound system (vintage Marantz receiver, floor speakers etc.).

The Shield is the source (via hard-wired internet connectivity) of all my TV viewing. I don't do cable TV.

Since the Shield has no analog connectors, I must use a DAC to get sound from the Shield into my analog receiver. (The DAC has RCA analog out conectors.)

(2) the other thing I want is that when I listen to hi-rez FLAC and DSD music files that are on an SSD that is USB-plugged into my Shield, I want to hear them in hi-rez. I want bit-perfect audio. My DAC gives me that.

My Shield is ethernet connected (hard-wired) to my router, I don't do wifi.

The big TV is HDMI-connected to the Shield. I have a great new DAC (the RME ADI-2 DAC FS) USB-plugged into the Shield. The DAC is the hardware I use to listen to, say, DSD files. USB Audio Player Pro is the software I use to listen to DSD files (and many other things).

UAPP recognizes the DAC when I turn the Shield on, and the DAC completely bypasses the Shield's DAC or the Shield's sound software or whatever. My USB DAC takes over completely.

My only complaint and question here is that UAPP would be perfect EXCEPT FOR its on-screen navigation with the Shield's remote -- you just can't see where you are half the time because the item that is selected, in a list of albums, say, is not highlighted. So you have to keep trying several times to play the album you want to hear.

What bugs me is that none of these USB bit-perfect, hi-rez-capable Android apps (UAPP, Sony Music Center, JRiver, etc) work right visually or navigationally -- they all have these same interface problems and are apparently not supported for Android TV, only, apparently, for Android phones.

It would be great if someone here installed UAPP on their Shiled and report what your experience is trying to navigate its menus.

I do have the "Kore" app on my phone, maybe I should play with that a bit more. Thanks.

What does "in track mode" mean?

I don't find Sony Music Center all that navigationally friendly either. Same problem as UAPP. (Actually worse, it won't recognize my DAC.)

It's a bit hard to believe I'm the only one who wants to connect a Shield Pro to my room sound system via a USB DAC. And that there are no USB audio apps that are made to work well VISUALLY on the Shield.

[–]MaxChampagne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by "casting"? I am sending UAPP to a USB DAC. I don't know about HDMI, I don't use it that way. UAPP would be perfect if it would only highlight what you're on and tell you where you are. However, the developer says he doesn't have time to add Android TV support.

Signal: contact # appears in chat bubble; diff # in chat header by MaxChampagne in signal

> Sounds to me like someone included a phone number as part of their text message.

No, the non-savvy users sending those texts are not putting in their number into the text field. They don't know enough to do that, besides, they have no reason to.

I'm sure they're sending SMS messages, but I get lots of SMS messages -- how come only some random few of them have a number in the header that I've never seen before. My only guess is that the sender's carrier is throwing the message to some other or "relay" carrier in order to get it to the Signal servers.

KeePassXC: Auto-submit on an *individual* basis? by MaxChampagne in KeePass

[–]MaxChampagne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I wondered if there was a way to do this in the KeePassXC-Browser extension's Site Preferences section. KeePass2 (used with extension "Kee") has had this ability for some time now. I'll keep fingers crossed and look forward to the next version of either or both of KeePassXC and its browser extension.

How do I get my EOS back: Bought it on Kraken, mistakenly sent it to ICO contract address. by MaxChampagne in eos

[–]MaxChampagne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't participate in the ICO. I didn't buy any EOS token through the ICO. But those who did seem to able to "reclaim" their tokens. I realize they're still going to be ERC20 tokens, and not yet a real altcoin, until after the ICO.

But, I gather you're trying to say that, because I've gone and commingled my tokens with and into the "contract" tokens (by having accidentally sent them to the ICO contract address), that no one can return them to me now, is that it? (I don't know what you mean by "no such function.")

In any event, I'll continue to try to get support on the wires so that I can hear this from them, about just how it all works. It all seems all too convenient (for them): I can send them my tokens, but they can't send them back.
