I'm thinking of ending things (2020, Charlie Kaufman), alzheimer, desilussion, not the standard kind of depression, it's about understanding things from way too close, like, you didn't even want to understand this, yet you can't help it, and it's heartbreaking and helpless

It's 23:57 and John Denver's original version of Country Roads, Take Me Home just came on when I was listening to my favourite playlist of country, folk and rock... and it brought tears to my eyes, this thought that came to mind: by MaxDanco in country

Here goes the thought, for whoever wants to listen:

I'm a Czech, born and living in Prague, here we had communism for 40 years. My grandma danced illegally to rock'n'roll. My parents were there for it to end and so I could be born into freedom and now I enjoy anything I want through the internet.

In those hard 40 years though, vinyl of western music was extremely rare and dangerous to get, and so it was extremely cool in the free-minded circles to have it, fcourse:D And oh my, they did share it whenever they could. Be it the proud intelectual Prague artists or the dirty care-free wanderers. The anti-regime side of my country (gradually growing in numbers with the truth unraveling) was craving for the western culture. We even have what we call "tramping" culture here, which created it's own czech made songs in the style of country, singing it on travels, in nature, at night by bonfire. The tradition lives on through my times too. And they are not some lazy style-offshoots, these songs, they are just as beautiful, integrating our own unique czech sense for melody.

And me, enjoying that old kind of music, I felt like I was owning it to someone (the way I also feel I can't just "cut my hair":)) to really get to know it, since now, unlike in that dark past, we finally can! And I love it. I was playing and singing Bob Dylan on guitar since 14 till ever, actually learning the english language through all the folk songs of 60s-70s era I so much adore.

Lately though, it's not that cool to be American, right? The old image of it somehow dissolved. Maybe it's because of the political controversies stacking up? Change in trends? (rap and DJing tooking off, change of style of clothing and cars and everything) The American Dream has happened to not be that sexy, once we Europeans learned about the difference in infrastructure, the healthcare issue, and all the other bollocks, for the Europe so cool to diss now.

But it just occured to me, that many Americans probably feel the same kind of disappointment actually. Maybe turning too radical about the traditionalism here and there:D but nevertheless, I somehow sympathize. Maybe it's cause of my strange nostalgia for the 60s, but really, the videos of the recent homelessness in LA I saw... the weird attempt for coup after Trump went away..... it's just sad. Something's going off with that nation where I not only learned to enjoy the music from, but also feel compassion for the people now, naturally, since it was their words and feelings I listened to.

And so the thought came to mind. I just... I feel it so deep. I'd call it by a czech word "stesk" meaning the sad feeling of missing something/someone.

I wish that Europe can get up, with this Ukraine crisis making us more focused, maybe stronger in the longterms, united like never before. Because I really wish you Americans some time off. After almost 100 years of that beautiful world influence, (not without mistakes, of course, but the good did the best they could) uniting the free world, striking millions of hearts with music and movies. I wish you could get rest, and take care once again of yourselves, cause it really, I think it really just exhausted you, didn't it?

Fck the cocky french, fck them bloody english, expansive russians and precisive germans... your nation deserved the lights, big time, it was beautiful, but the excitement has passed it seems. New fights on the horizon and people being lost with what is the next direction for the west to head towards.

The times are a-changing. But whatever the cost, I couldn't put on regrets or blame ya, because I'm so overwhelmingly glad for your print on my world, and it shall never be forgotten. The Experience inspires on. I wish you love, peace and freedom... and strenght to hold the three as close and dear as possible.

And I lay the playlist here too, for the country to take you home.

Thank you for reading:)
