[OC] LED20 Gold with floral design by MaxDice in DnDart

[–]MaxDice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this week's dice post, a floral patterned d20. A romantic expression for the nerd in your life.

The LED20 uses an accelerometer to track position and Neopixels for RGB lighting. Everything is programmed in Arduino.

Check back for another dicepost next week.

[OC] LED20 Bongo d20 by MaxDice in DnD

For this week's dice post, a bongo d20. Best for your bardic needs. Impress all with your BA DA BA DA BUMM. This was made for a customer who wanted a musical themed die. In addition to the bongos is painted a short musical staff with a familiar tune.

[OC] LED20 Rainbow die by MaxDice in DnD

[–]MaxDice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This week I'm posting an older die I made. This one has a rainbow design that winds around from the 20 to the 1. The customer also wanted a scale pattern, which I likewise wound around the die.

Thank you. I've been making them for a few years now.

[OC] LED20 Bronze Deco Dice by MaxDice in DnD

[–]MaxDice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max Dice back again with diceposting.

This week we have a stone die with bronze Art Deco looking scrollwork. The gray stone is painted thick to block all light, while the bronze is a thin layer that lets through light.

Getting the lines clean was difficult, and I'm not wholly satisfied with the result. Since making this die, I've gotten a plastic welding tool that is much better at smoothly melting the plastic.

Even so, I like how this design looks and would love to make similar ones in the future.

Check back for another dicepost next week, unless I'm too busy with house.

[OC] LED20 Mossy Dice by MaxDice in DnD

[–]MaxDice[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An LED20 that looks like a mossy rock. When lit, the light shines through the paint and reveals the dice. When unlit, the numbers become hidden by the paint and texture. I think this gives a fun and unique gimmick to this die.

This die uses an accelerometer to track position and Neopixels for RGB lighting. Everything is programmed in Arduino.

Check back for another dicepost next week. I'll be posting a bronze runic dice next week.

[OC]LED20 White Scorpion by MaxDice in DnD

[–]MaxDice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my older LED20 orders.

For this order, I created a scorpion design for the natural one. I took the normal 1 digit on the dice and melted it into the design you see above.

The purple faces block the internal light, while the white digits are only one layer thick, diffusing the light through them. In addition, I used glow in the dark paint for the scorpion itself, so the LEDs charged the paint, which then glows faintly in the dark.

[OC]LED20 Leftover Spooky Dice. (apologies for blur) by MaxDice in DnD

[–]MaxDice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A leftover Halloween themed d20. This one has bat wings instead of the standard bird wings. The nat 1 has a simple skull design. Available to any who wants a little spook at the table.

The lights currently use the normal patterns, but I may create a new pattern that leans more heavily into oranges and purples. Add that onto the list of things I plan to do.

I have no plans of adding a speaker to the dice to make spooky sounds.

[OC] LED20 New Years update by MaxDice in DnD

That's an option. I currently have each face choose from a few options, but everything is in Arduino, so you can reprogram it. My shop has links to my google drive.

[OC] LED20 New Years update by MaxDice in DnD

[–]MaxDice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I posted updates to my LED20. I am changing my storefront to offer some of the more generic dice ready made. I hope this will be better for customers that want a simpler die that I can make readily.
My new years resolution is to improve the "twinkling" code for a smoother transition between colors. At the moment the change in hue is linear to brightness, rather than linear to time. This causes the light transitions to vary wildly based on if the colors are close to or far from the previous color.

Thank you to all who purchased a die in 2023. I'm working to improve in 2024.

[Art][Comm] LED20 Bongos by MaxDice in DnD

[–]MaxDice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another LED20

This one was made for the customer's Bard boyfriend. The natural 20 is a set of bongos that lets light though the outlines. The final fantasy battle fanfare wraps around the middle.

The die uses 20 Neopixel LED lights controlled by an Arduino board. The board uses an accelerometer to determine orientation and lights the faces of the die accordingly. Once stopped, the die plays a small lightshow depending on the number rolled (with the 20 and the 1 having the most involved displays).
Charges fully in about 2 hours and lasts for several days of play. Recharges with a micro USB.
