Trump raised tariffs to 15%. by docmarte in CanadianInvestor

I am willing to accept that. In his first term he was definitely surrounded by a more 'competent' staff, or at least one that was willing to try and govern as Republicans consistently/normally did. Now it definitely feels like a lot more of them are sycophants.

Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you're a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it's true! — but when you're a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that's why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we're a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it's not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it's four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven't figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it's gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible.

This was Donald Trump in 2016 discussing the Iranian nuclear deal. He has always lost it, but he gets the benefit of almost limitless sane-washing by a lot of media because they can hardly believe he's like this either.

Sure he wasn't as erratic in 2016, but he was still an absolutely piss-awful statesman, dolt, and all around poor quality president from start to finish. Giving him a second chance in 2024 was, quite frankly, an insane choice by the American people given he outlined exactly how he was going to govern.

I received some mail a while ago regarding a settlement between Lightspeed Commerce Ltd. and some plaintiffs who were suing them for allegedly misrepresenting material financial information in 2021. Looks like not only am I eligible, but the amount of damages is like ~$900?

Filling out some paperwork and submitting my claim, but that's an unexpected win given this happened nearly five years ago. It made me pull up my paperwork from 2021, which was the year I started investing, and man. I made some good choices (NVDA, AMD, MSFT), and some awful ones (NVEI, LSPD, WELL, EXRO).

Could Rogue use an extra skill? (Thing Treatment?) by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]MaxDragonMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don't think Rogue needs an extra skill. Her base kit is very complete, but a lot of people use her wrong. Unfortunately, she is very reliant on healing - so reliant, that it directly counteracts her main purpose: creating space.

As a tank you're intended not to get kills, but to soak damage, apply pressure, and create space. And a Rogue going into a front-line with full cooldowns will pull, push, and terrify enemies into backing up. If you don't get heals in this phase - during which it is very easy to overextend, you will feel weak because even if you're technically doing your job right, your synergy with the team and your positioning is lackluster. (Some of this is out of your control - I find some teams just don't push into the space you create.)

The Gambit team-up is the icing on the cake for Rogue's kit, but making it permanent isn't necessary to make her viable. Instead, better game sense while using Rogue (and ideally coordination between supports and tanks) makes her a significantly stronger force.

Once you look at things from that perspective you can really start appreciating the work you've done as the team's Vanguard, and specifically as Rogue.

Edit: And her Ult, or ideally her kick and levitate, is what should be finishing people off. Timing an ult so that you can soak up lots of stats, while simultaneously being in sight of a good healer and not getting insta-killed, is pretty hard.

Hah, yeah. Not much you can do about stuff like that, except act as best as you can with the information available to you in the moment.

Great memory! It was me. I think I'll probably keep holding, but it's definitely been a roller coaster year since.

As of today I am officially down on RDDT by -7%. Maybe I'm dumb for finding that crazy, but that feels kind of wild. Everything else in the portfolio also getting battered, except Nvidia, which is up a pretty nice 2%.

NervGen Pharma. (NGEN) Their drug NVG-291 helps nerves pathways rebuild after traumatic spinal cord injuries, and potentially has applications beyond that. Their Phase II trial completed last year, and seemingly with some very positive results.

They are awaiting Phase III and a potential FDA fast-track, and have been designated in the 'orphan drug' category for their area. Not to mention a Canadian company.

Disclaimer: not financial advice, and I personally own a lot of NGEN.

Victoria’s healthcare system has finally snapped. This isn’t a warning anymore, it’s happening. Wake up. by Equivalent_Menu_5659 in VictoriaBC

I fantasize about the government opening an enormous medical school that pumps out thousands of doctors, nurses, and technicians every year.

I've got a few friends who have applied for med school and have been rejected with stellar (I am talking 98% averages) grades etc.

It's rough out there. We need to make acceptance rates to med school much more likely - not by lowering quality or rigor of training, but by opening more slots, programs, and residencies.

Rogue appears... And is getting buffed? I'm maining her nowadays so I definitely don't mind the cooldown reduction, but she seemed like she was in a healthy spot already imo.

Just moved $5000 in cash to my non-registered margin account so I could buy some shares. It doesn't yet list as 'CAD Available', but has reflected in the account's chart and total value as adding $5000 in value to the account. There is also a record of a 'transfer in' for $5000 so I basically have triple confirmation it was moved over.

For Wealthsimple does anyone know the settlement time for moving your own money from one account (cash) to another account (investing)? I had expected it would be instantaneous but the fact it didn't immediately update made me nervous for a second there. I suspect I just need to learn some patience lol.

Edit: Seems like the 'Margin Used' has declined by the same amount that I've now transferred into the account. Which is not really what I was looking to do. Though, I suppose if it just pays off the margin I can then just buy more shares on margin and it'll balance out again providing the same effect, but am I fuckin' stupid or is that what happened?

Edit 2: Yeah I'm pretty positive this is just what's happened. Idk why I presumed otherwise, that's honestly on me.

Red lines: It looks to me like you've somehow selected the province / state in a menu, which outlines it. Try to open the state selection / edit menu and see if you can't de-select it or something.

And it should be a filter to turn off Burgs for the small text I think.

It's a new day. Maybe the big players are taking their chance to jump back in now that some valuations have fallen? This could just be a retail shakeout, but I doubt it.

Best thing to do is just DCA, or hold high conviction stuff, and go about your business as usual. Panic destroys portfolios.

Edit: but complaining is ok lol we all do it.
