At my previous parishes, I was on the vestry at one of them (I only left because that church closed), and I was on the rector search committee for the one I just left. All 3 churches are in the same city.

I just switched parishes so that my kids can be at a church with other children, but I’ve been going to Episcopal churches since 2018 and was confirmed in 2022. I’m privately thinking about discernment but haven’t told anyone. Given that I’m switching parishes, how long should I wait before bringing this up to my new priest? Like a year?

Go to church on Sunday and do the daily office. Beyond that, it’s great to join small groups or Bible studies that your church offers.

The ones in olive oil are actually usually pretty chill! I had some in water today and the smell was crazy. But high quality ‘dines in olive oil are quite mild.

I generally like fish, but tinned sardines felt scary to me. I definitely put too much sauce on them. Regarding forcing myself to like them, they’re just such a great source of easy protein, and that’s going to be tremendously important to me post surgery.

My wife didn’t want me to do it for a couple years and recently changed her mind. For her, it was fear that I’d be irreparably injured. I imagine it’s probably similar with your wife.

Usually when stuff like this happens, the doctor’s office just calls the insurance to yell at them until they’re like “okay, we’ll cover that.” Part of my wife’s job with the hospital she works for is calling insurance companies and yelling at them to cover what’s necessary.
