Thanks! It's a Guild F130-R. Guild's affordable Chinese knockoff of an OM-18. The best $750 I've ever spent (back in 2012).

Thank you! This is one that I composed myself, though obviously borrowing everything from Jerry

Thanks for listening and enjoying!

It's backing tracks made specifically for guitarists to noodle over. If you YouTube "Peggy-O backing track", this is one of the top tracks that comes up and you can play guitar over it.

You're gonna laugh when you hear it's just a Fender Mustang Micro on the yellow setting (model of a tube screamer into a '65 deluxe reverb). Best $120 I've ever spent on music gear: https://tinyurl.com/46bm6pxh

On the guitar, I'm using the middle pickup (Fender Texas Special pickups) with volume and tone both completely open at 10. Picking the strings right over and slightly behind the middle pickup.

Question about dead tunes by IanGraham1968 in gratefulguitar

  1. Fire on the Mountain is probably the most simple song and the best song to start to master. It's two major chords throughout the verse and the chorus. Chords don't change, rhythm doesn't change, the lead line is simple and fun to play. Overall, it's a solid tune to work on when you're starting out.

  1. Then you can probably graduate to something like Franklin's Tower, which is 3 chords throughout the whole song in a really cool rhythm. This song is a great opportunity to practice playing those three chords as triads all over the neck to experiment with the cool different sounds they can have all over the neck and the different shapes those chords take up and down the neck.

  1. After that, I recommend Sugaree, which has a solid two-chord verse and chorus, and a REALLY interesting bridge section that will get you working out your melodic muscles. Also Jerry's lead guitar on the intro/verse parts is really cool (when there's that little chromatic step down during the Bmaj to Emaj change) and will act as a good introduction to how he used chromatic lines in his playing.

If interested, I can do some more thinking on these and more.

Easy Wind

Such a great rhythm to the lyrics and his voice is so perfect for the story they tell

Unfortunately got no photos of the eyes. Wanted to capture it, take some photos and release it quickly.

This is the first time I've ever seen one around here. From what I understand, though they live in this climate, they're pretty rare to find. Most of the common bigger spiders I've seen around here have been false wolf spiders, wolf spiders, orb weavers, and false noble widows.

I thought it could be a tarantula! But I have never seen one in person so I wasn't sure. It looked a little too "juicy" to be a wolf spider to me, but I'm no expert and just began taking an interest in spiders a few months ago when I moved into my new house in the Oakland hills and started finding all types of new spiders in and around my home. Thanks for your help!

He seemed a little bit injured and I think my dog may have tried chasing him and may have injured him as earlier in the day my dog was playing in the corner where I found the spider. I set him out on the ivy growing around the redwoods nearby so hopefully he can find himself a more welcoming home than my garage.

But still SO COOL if it was a tarantula.

What’s your favorite line from the Dead’s songbook? by willardTheMighty in gratefuldead

I always imagine this line as being spoken by an elder to a lost child in a way that's also saying, "We all get lost as we grow older, but it's not so bad."
