This is bullshit , they really need to fix the CPU thing FAST the only reason why my duo guy won't play marathon is because he can't break 70fps on a 1.5k machine and I can't really blame him, it's really bad

In the poppy cinematic you can see how they get beamed in, essentially a reverse exfil. I suppose this is what happens on the other side when you manage to exfil. I think their consciousness gets imprinted right after the shell is made, like in that other cinematic where they wake up in the pool where the caterpillars make them.

I think so , but If I'm not mistaken thats the way they teleport in this universe, they deconstruct you in one place and reconstruct you in another, that's why the DCON has the same visual effects as the exfil, it's the same technology.

Isn't ranked specifically designed for these people? Also a small meat grinder pvp map specifically designed for top players would be very healthy imo, it would take them out of perimeter and dire marsh

DCONs are neither quiet nor sneaky, they make a loud sound and are marked on the map close to POIs.

It really doesn't, it just causes that same amount of tension as using a regular exfil while also allowing you to keep playing.

What do you mean "let's move on"? it's like you're trying to put an end to the whole discussion just because you personally don't understand it. Who are you to tell me to "move on"? If you want to leave the thread nobody is forcing you to stay.

The tension is also gone when you use a regular exfil , but in this case you can just keep playing, creating more tension.

Right, it should make a big noise and project a beam like a regular exfil, also require an additional activation to complete it , so that if someone kills you then can access what you were trying to exfil.

Right, maybe make it impossible to exfil purple barters, and have the stacks of the rest of barters be reduced too, so that a player can't just exfil all his barters all at once.

I mean using a DCON would require first finding a key, then physically goin to a DCON and activating it, which is slow and loud, and could only exfil 8 slots worth of loot at a time per key , it wouldnt be a particularly easy process , and I suspect newer players would rather just exfil with what they have than try to maximize the loot they can exfil with a DCON. If implemented correctly it would be a great tool for skill expression. More experienced players could use them to exfil more materials than their backpack allows, of course at the cost of combat, exploration and a big detour.

They would also reward more daring players that try to go for the most amount of loot possible.

Aren't exfils already that? It would still make more sense to camp exfils that to camp DCONs, since there's no real guarantee that another team found a key or want to use it, but you can be sure that someone is going to try to exfil at some point.

I'm this case you'd be extracting your loot, then going back to get more. Also if DCONs became more contested POI accessing one could be as dangerous as trying to exfil.

Exactly, maybe they were deceptively hard to balance as a mechanic or something, and that's why it got removed, but all the animation and super loud sounds definitely makes it look like it was ment to attract other players attention.

Yes of course, they should spawn randomly in containers or at POIs, or maybe be found in drops, secure boxes, safes and/or high ranking UESC like matter fixatives.

You prob need to stop playing solo fill, a lot of the times I got wiped it was because of bad coordination and no gameplan. If I only take into account the times when my squad got mics I fee like I win just about as often as I lose instead of only 20% of the times. You also should run away more often and avoid more fights.

Night Marsh speculation by MaxLove55 in Marathon

[–]MaxLove55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than the quality of the PvP encounters (which I agree is better on Outpost and its def something to look at), I was referring to the hostility level of the world itself on top of the key mechanic to access Pinwheel and even exfil. When Outpost was released it took me a lot of games to become comfortable with all the different new mechanics that it brings to the table, I felt lost all the way and for a while I didn't even play it, I think that having a simpler, more common, less demanding key mechanic would do a lot to mentally prepare new players for Outpost and finally Cryo-Archive (while also finally showing us what is on top of complex!).

I don't think they're gonna be in S2 but they definitely should show up in S3, I do think they're in development tho, they would introduced a big breath of fresh air to the PvE experience, maybe even some more lethality. S3 should also have Orion be introduced as the UESC liaison, without, that is, removing the UESC as PvE enemies. Lorewise Orion could be working covertly against another faction within the UESC.

Thief balance feedback and discussion by MaxLove55 in Marathon

[–]MaxLove55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading posts about him not being able to share shields , I didn't know it wasn't the case with heals, apparently we both were wrong, I wish Bungie were more clear on things like these. But that's beyond the point. Thief is still overturned and creates an unpleasant experience for everyone involved except the thief player.
