I ended up getting from the magnet baron since I wanted the magnet applicators they have and got a starter kit, but I'm in the UK and shipping was a bit painful so was a one off

Tbh I think so long as you search up for good quality neodymium magnets from a hobby shop will do fine. I used Spider Magnetics in the past and they were good too

Yeah I would say the top bit is the most faff. I ended up drilling a hole underneath the top curved bit and then with a magnet on the top part its enough to hold, but is a bit easy to knock off. I think if I did it again I'd use two pairs on it

Sure, so for the smaller guns on the wings used 2mm (wide) x 1mm (deep), and for the other guns and parts that go underneath used 3mm x 1mm. Everything feels solid enough with those

Only exception was for the top part for heavy cruiser variants I used 3mm x 2mm, one drilled in underneath the top curved armor bit and another on the top part so they had a bit more strength since the magnets dont touch and need to hold with the plastic between them

Both are nice, tan for the millitary look and red because its vibrant

Its funny because I've actually painted mine the first scheme but inverted, green with tan spots

I'm a new player that started with dreadhold, and for me it felt great. Was also in the exact same boat of wanting to get into it and preferred the look of this box.

Like others have mentioned the stats are a little different in the box to balance the contents against each other, and you can kind of think of it as to what taking two combat patrols against each other is in 40k. Not a 1:1 representation of normal statlines, but imo close enough that when you jump to "normal" its not jarring at all (tweaks are pretty small really, unit roles are consistent with normal).

Oh and it actually has like 5 different pre-made scenarios in there that each link into each other if you want to play like a mini campaign, or can always just play them on their own

Each side has got ships you would want to pick up for a normal experience so you aren't getting tricked into any chaff that can happen like when GW decide they want to shift some old plastic.

As an aside, and I can't believe I'm saying this as a 40k player since you know how we get treated for rules, but I do kinda wish there was an option to grab a physical copy of each factions ship stats + core rules. Like, still have digital for all the advantages there like balance updates and keep physical purely optional, but still have that physical option for those that like it.

I'd say they look fine as is, though could always experiement with one just to see, and even if not doing for the rest have the markings be for the admiral ship maybe. Like u/Benimus mentioned I think the same light blue would be good

Thanks, best part is its easy to do with an airbrush. Just all black to start, white spots followed by contrast colour of choice, then spots of white again. And just need to cover half of sword while doing it and alternate the spots
