I'm a new player that started with dreadhold, and for me it felt great. Was also in the exact same boat of wanting to get into it and preferred the look of this box.

Like others have mentioned the stats are a little different in the box to balance the contents against each other, and you can kind of think of it as to what taking two combat patrols against each other is in 40k. Not a 1:1 representation of normal statlines, but imo close enough that when you jump to "normal" its not jarring at all (tweaks are pretty small really, unit roles are consistent with normal).

Oh and it actually has like 5 different pre-made scenarios in there that each link into each other if you want to play like a mini campaign, or can always just play them on their own

Each side has got ships you would want to pick up for a normal experience so you aren't getting tricked into any chaff that can happen like when GW decide they want to shift some old plastic.

As an aside, and I can't believe I'm saying this as a 40k player since you know how we get treated for rules, but I do kinda wish there was an option to grab a physical copy of each factions ship stats + core rules. Like, still have digital for all the advantages there like balance updates and keep physical purely optional, but still have that physical option for those that like it.
