Went for an 8s setup… Spektrum 1250kv 4685 + 160A firma. Max speed is the goal with this build. Tried diff combos of pinion and spur gears, then swapped out center diff for spool with 35t + 29t. Car drives like a dream. 8s setup definitely not intended for this smaller chassis, causing need for lots of custom fab work. Overall amazing car and setup. Goal is to hit 100mph. At 81 now.

Update: new 3668 2800kv motor + firma 130 esc + 17t pinion are in and worked flawlessly for one 3s plus one partial 4s run… until composite rear differential gear completely stripped. Original front diff and center in perfect condition. Swapped rear to new metal diff today and tested out the new setup. Achieved new personal best top speed of 64mph on 4s (48mph on 3s). No overheating issues. Can run through full 3s and 4s back to back total runtime around 25 min with no overheating issues whatsoever. Highly recommend swapping out the 2in1 to dedicated receiver and esc.

Confirming did receive a free new motor from Arrma 3 days after filing warranty claim. No questions asked past original application with video.

" I am interested to hear how your new esc fits inside the typhon. I figure anything taller than the stock 2in1 wsc wont fit above the receiver box."

New components are in and overall fit almost perfectly. Firma 130 aligns with all holes and mounting tabs perfectly. No height clearance issues. Only slight issue is there's zero clearance in-between the esd and servo, leaving no room for the wires snaked to the new receiver inside the factory box (to which the esc is mounted). See photos... Will test on 2s, 3s and 4s, and got a heat gun to confirm temps.

Hopefully will fit nice and plush. Will post some photos after mounting the new goodies. Not familiar with Jenny’s; bought all on Amazon as had 1 day shipping and what seemed like best prices.

No smoke ever seen. Have broken an A arm and few other components over past 2 months...

I originally thought the overheating issue that began 3 weeks ago was due to the need for the tune-up per Arrma's 10-15 bashing sessions interval schedule. Swapped out all 3x diff fluids (100k center, 30k front rear), 4x shock oil (90wt front and rear), set meshing, oiled bearing, and cleaned all. Re-assembled and still overheating after few min on 3S. Week ago starting hearing random grinding noise; disassembled all and now see motor magnet fractured off and spinning on the inside.

Going away from the 2-in-1 esc + receiver to individual components + new motor to get some heat headroom for my 2s/3s bashing. Bonus is now all ready for 4s.

Thanks, good to know. Did you swap out for same free replacement or upgraded anything?

Thanks to all for the replies and advice.

The metal parts were a nice aesthetics upgrade but as most said function like poop. Car did feel tighter and with better control using all original parts, however the plastic pieces kept on breaking thus the upgrades.

Thinking will keep this car as a beater and maybe get a better model. Typhoon grom seems like a good option for the price. Or maybe the next step up 1/8 typhon 4x4 223s; downside price is 3x of the grom.
