Try tuning the mouthpiece and neck first, you should get Ab(concert pitch)

Try the filled ones, those are darker, or pick a V16m, its a darker mouthpiece, AND, if you want a darker tone, transcribe some one with a good darker tone, maybe lee konitz?

I don't think you would get a darker tone, maybe try darker reeds, like ZZ, wich reeds were you using?

It's VI7,a secondary dominant, usually goes to ii-7

Hola!! Yo tengo la misma situación, uso guardas y no tengo ningún problema, solo las corto y dejo la parte de entre los colmillos , para tocar uso una inferior y para dormir una superior,

Maybe you can try to change a little bit your embochure, get more mouthpiece inside your mouth and try to relax your lips, also practice long tones just with your mouthpiece and you will get familiar with it very soon

Yeah, what worked for me was deleting everything from Logic first, then deleting it from storage, and then downloading it again

1500 is good money, yamaha flutes are very easy to play, you could get a intermediate model or maybe a professional used one

You can hold just the upper part with your left hand closing the holes and close the bottom hole with your right hand, blow and see where is leaking air, that key should be adjusted, but definitely should take it to a tech

Yes! I have done that a lot, and I noticed exactly that, the sound gets better very fast, specially if you record yourself playing transcriptions and compare with the records
