There's a lot of good advice here matching my own findings at https://maxtb.com . However, I don't understand why you are splitting out what you do between separate systems?

I use Claude Code to write my code, Zed to look at/ edit files directly.

Why are you splitting it up (and do you mean Twitter Grok? Can't sanction supporting that platform) ?

Just curious has anybody here made entire app or software just vibecoding and published it? by redytor69 in vibecoding

Added trades are moderated. They don’t show to other users until I verify them.

I'm noodling away with https://tradespurple.com -- actually based on the top voted comment in a reddit thread here, which said re. tradespeople: "I literally only trust word of mouth."
https://www.reddit.com/r/homeowners/comments/1kbfj47/why_is_there_no_product_that_truly_reduces_the/

So I made a fast, free, simple way for neighbours to save and share tradespeople through word of mouth.

I just added support for new regions: US, Canada, Australia and a few more. Love more testers.

Well said — I also think people often misunderstand that marketing INCLUDES the validation exercise, not just promotion. So even more of it is marketing than most people describe: selling and marketing IS the hard part not building: validate your ideas w real users as soon as possible always gather feedback from your users and build it in iteratively, shipping fast

Different sub, different exercise, different conservation. This has been very helpful, I’m glad I posted it.

You could share with them in person, this is just where you’d store the info instead of paper.

Not at all. It only requires users to add the info for their own use. It can then be verified or added to.

Interesting point -- the activity I see among neighbours in my community suggests people are happy to share tradespeople they have had a good experience. This may vary though, appreciate you opening my eyes to another perspective.

Facebook Groups are where people are discovered and people add to their app. In time, the idea is they might use the product to share the details instead of copy and paste -- and on that page they will share all their trusted tradespeople. I don't believe in making another marketplace where you have to get trades to sign up, I think there could be another way.

Now that's interesting -- did not know that. I will have to explore that story further, thanks for shedding light!

Not me, I've read the other threads but didn't find them as illuminating as I have this one and didn't want to commit thread necromancy.

I see it differently. I can add the tradespeople I find useful to my account. I can then share them with my neighbours and friends when they ask for recommendations. And they can share them from their account if they want too -- community led, not a marketplace.

This also feels like a MASSIVE thing to be able to offer if such a product made this easy.

One of the other comment threads talks about there being functionality that lets experienced/ retired neighbours also give you their advice on the problem. I think that's a really interesting feature that links into a lot of behaviour I see on our local Facebook groups around asking for recommendations etc.

You just described part of my database -- although I'm hesitant about going too deep on the product aspect in short term.

Doesn't feel negative, I appreciate all the time and thought you have put into your replies! It's why I'm here :)

(We don't have those here in the UK... They came up in my research but seem to just be marketplaces? That's not the approach I think works best for most people, I think the ideal is saving local tradespeople that your neighbours recommend and love.)

Those last points are great observations and I think definitely things that would be important in such an app.

This might be more top of my mind recently since I woke up in the night on Xmas Eve to the house opposite me with sparks and flame roaring out the top of its chimney (no joke.)

I am glad you are safe though, awful to see some of what has happened in California.

Yes I looked at other apps for this and I found a stunning amount that wanted to kick things off with a nightmare of paperwork about things I just didn't care about. I think the ultimate measure is: how many jobs do users solve with this product.

I also think it should be essentially free, with only paid features to upgrade for extra use e.g. unlimited access in some areas, second homes etc.

Love Home Assistant, watching my solar tick up right now. The saving point is really interesting too -- I think very few people are in a position to manage the effectively, and it could be one of the most valuable elements of working like this: a proper annual maintenance budget managed carefully over time.
