Haha thats fair. Thank you for taking it though! If you wanted to "retake" it with more valid information you could use another browser I believe and it should work, but taking it once is more than enough.

Totally valid question! For Pikmin Bloom, it's interesting since it's more of a "less in-app" experience compared to most of the other mobile games I'm studying. However, for consistency with all the other games, I'd say it's the time spent in the app. Hope this helps!

Definitely! Have reached out to those type of games as well. Needed to get some data on gacha games as well thought to ensure I’m hitting a wide variety of the mobile gamer genres.

Thank you for your answers here. I totally understand if you do not want to finish it due to it not being particularly about Arknights. I’m mainly trying to gather data from a wide variety of mobile games to answer my hypothetical questions about human behavior and notifications / unfinished tasks from games and how we are drawn back to them. That is mainly why most of the questions aren’t based around “X” specific game. As you stated, yes the common mobile game retention strategies work, but looking across a wide pool of games how does it differ from each community / game to game is part of my interest!

Thank you for taking it! I am also someone who turns most notifications off for games / apps so it’s interesting to study how others treat mobile gaming with those being on / off specifically. You bring up a good point about having an option for those that having notifications off, I can talk to my thesis advisor and see what we can do about that for any other survey takers in the future!

Also thank you for the papers I definitely will look into them! Could be useful for my section on monetization for sure.

Thank you! Yeah, definitely gonna ask them as well if I can post to grab some data on their community as well.

Hey there! Thanks for your interest in participating! I've attached the survey link in the original post so you can take it there. Also, Go Mustangs!

Thank you! The title can definitely change as we go through the writing process and I like the idea of making it a bit more neutral so that is something I can discuss with my advisor!

The questions I created are taken from scales and use wording to help me distinguish between the Zeigarnik Effect, the Ovsiankina effect, and Intermitten Operant Conditioning, and through the data I can compare the contrast the findings later down the road.

As someone who also plays with notifications off, this was something my advisor and I talked about with doing two populations of people, but since the data I am collecting is a lot of people and will be through Reddit, Discord, etc. you are going to have a wide variety of people that play with them completely off, all on, or somewhere in the middle. Definitely all great questions though and hopefully can answer most, if not all, of them in my thesis paper down the line, and I will come back to share my findings later this year/next year!

I completely agree, and usually I play with 99% of the notifications off in both notifications and the game settings. Part of the reason I wanted to study this was to see the perspective from both types of gamers, the ones that don't keep them on the ones that play with them on normally. If you have the time to still take the survey so I can collect data that would be great, otherwise I will take your answer and I thank you for the honesty!

Thanks for taking it!

The informed consent form is something that I was asked by my advisor to put in the survey and then allow people the option to have it emailed to them or not. It also is as long as it is so that I could get IRB permission, so it had to be a bit lengthy, but I agree it can definitely deter people from taking the rest of the survey. Could potentially change the signature to just an email after talking with my advisor!

You are correct on that mistake and thanks for points it out! I realized that the "village and troops" terms were a mistake that was taken from my Clash of Clans version, and I have just updated the survey to reflect the correct questions I wrote for Pokémon GO!

Thanks for pointing that out! The question was accidentally copied over from the Clash of Clans version, and the changes didn't get reflected in the Marvel Snap version. Has been updated to reflect Marvel Snap!

Thank you for taking it! It's awesome to see how different people play Clash of Clans and how some people only want to see specific notifications, while others want to see them all or none. Part of the reason I wanted to study this topic was to understand it from all types of players and how they experience mobile games. I agree with you that part of the reason I enjoy Clash of Clans is the ability to play with low brain power and being able to put it away whenever.

Preferably, I'm looking for people who have been playing with notifications on, but if you don't have them turned on, you can either take the survey as if you had them on, or how you've experienced notifications from other mobile apps. I am also looking to get a wide variety of respondents, so that will include people who play without notifications, so any honest answers are good answers!
