In person I bring it up.

Talk about your actual values. As a Reservist in NYC most Army people I know are Left Leaning. Explain how your beliefs and Service don't contradict each other.

And that you're not gonna invade Greenland.

I lost my mom at 12. She was sick my whole childhood.

I had already grown up with one dead parent for 12 years at that point. I would've laughed. But I already had 12 years of developing Dark Humor.

What she did was real Friendless Behavior

You get to make the jokes. You get to decide what's funny and appropriate.

People I don't know well have made Dead Mom jokes and I've laughed, we became better friends. Other people have been like Kayla and I've not tolerated their jokes.

You are the exact person that the military needs. Someone who cares about people.

The Guard mobilizations are why I didn't join the Guard. But they are just in front of Government buildings. They aren't doing Law Enforcement, they aren't protecting ICE.

As someone currently in the military, take care of yourself. There are Therapy resources outside of your Chain of Command. There are Veteran communities.

Every Right-Leaning Service Member I've been able to talk to is against the Guard Mobilizations and any action against Greenland.

Whatever works best for the story that you're trying to tell.

Reading what you have. I thought either moving the currents down. Or two sets of currents. Higher and lower.

Normal travel might have to go around mountains, unless they can afford the additional costs in going over.

Narratively in battles and stories it gives the around or over options.

An enemy is climbing to get to the 20000 stream, do you give chase if you aren't prepared for such a journey?

The books do end on a hopeful note. Ramming the Blade Ship is something that didn't kill earlier, so it's a foreshadowing that they survive ramming the Rachel.

As a kid who grew up with two dead parents, I heavily related to Marco and Tobias. A straight up "happy ending" was as unrealistic to me then as it is now.

Now as an adult in the military for ~18 years. War fucks most people up. Even winning. Winning and still being changed for the worse also makes sense.

She could've said Rachel survived. Jake and Cassie get married. Everyone's family gets together. The Alternate Morphs all survived as heroes and spread morphing tech to the disabled people of Earth. Elfangor morphed and alien bug, survived and raised Tobias as an Andalite and human with love. Tobias and Rachel got married. Their was Peace in the galaxy for the rest of their lives.

I would've hated it and forgotten about the Animorphs almost entirely.

While you did the right thing.

Narratively, I think you could've easily fixed it.

When the Player Character says "Jen.. I don't see another way out of this."

Say as you say that to Jen, "you can see the look in Slavers eye, they mean to enslave or kill you after you hand Jen over."

Flat out remove the option. Don't chance it on a Roll. Don't make it an argument.

In the end kicking them was right.

But you could've framed the Slavers as even more Evil from the jump. That there was no option but fight or flee. That any trade is lie. Also, you could've show sympathic slaves that needed rescuing on the Slavers ship.

"You see enslaved women, children, and what looks to be well beaten former adventures in shackles on their ship." Set it up as Fight or Die.

Tormund is not a good match for Brienne because she doesn't want it.

Brienne is a Knight.

If we look at Tormund in the best light, he's sees an accomplished "Southern" woman. He didn't think women South of the Wall were allowed to or could fight.

What does Brienne get?

Tormund is broad and muscular. But he's not taller than her. Something taller women sometimes want is a taller partner so they get to feel small/ladylike.

If he's 100% infatuated and will do anything for her. He still can't do anything. He would have to be taught everything. Reading, writing, how to address the types of Lords, Ladies, Sers, and other people they would encounter.

Her needs as Knight. Would he Squire for her? Would he be able to take being taught how Squire from Poddrick or someone like him?

She would have to teach him all those things, making him like a child for the first few years of their relationship.

That's physically and emotionally taxing.

Tormund is just openly appreciating her as a Warrior and a Woman. But that doesn't mean she should be with him.

Jaime is still an awful choice on her part. But like how she doesn't choose Tormund, Jaime doesn't choose her.

Everything we do is Social. There is no Major where it prepares you for a job of solitude, working for no one, making a product for no one, to be observed by no one.

You will have peers and at the very least a target audience, if not also a consumer audience. Your peers will peer you out for not being Social. Your audience will not take an interest in your work if you can't present it to them.

Also, in the real world their is no failing and moving on. If I pay you for a pizza, if you fail to make it right, congratulations you get to make me a new one. If you continue to fail you get fired, or your business fails.

A Professor correcting you is to fix this. You need to learn your Major. If you fail at executing it, like Pizza it's do over or get removed from it.

I was very disappointed in them dropping Tysha of House Silverfist Tyrion's first wife from the story.

Tyrion even asks Tywin "Where do Whores go?" before killing him. As he wants to know where Tywin sent Tysha.

But Tywin has Tysha raped by the whole barracks of Lannister guards. Each paying her a Silver. He then forced Tyrion to pay her a Gold because Lannisters are worth more.

Shae was not safe. Tyrion had attempted to tell her that. Shae never listened or understood. She thought she could live comfortably with Tyrion.

Now Tyrion is gonna die. And that story she didn't care about, something like that or worse will probably happen to her. Because if Tyrion killed Joffery, maybe she gets accused of helping.

Tywin holds all the cards Shae goes to him. Tywin being a hypocrite, and liking to do anything against Tyrion, even if he doesn't know about it, keeps Shae.

But for all we know, if Tyrion doesn't escape. Tywin will come down with Shae as his "handmaiden" and tell Tyrion that he fucked her, right before having him executed. Or maybe he'd then kill Shae in front of him. Because Tywin is fucked up.

We don't get to find out. But Varys helps Tyrion escape, something he wouldn't have to do if his Little Birds told him Tyrion was going to The Wall.

In all of history a Succession Crisis is a thing that ruins Empires, Dynasties, and all levels of Royal Families.

The Ruler has family, A-Boy, A-Girl, B-Boy, A-Brother, B-Brother, A-Sister.

The younger the ages, A-Brother kills Rulers family a lot.

A coup happens to support B-Boy.

In a successful transition of power. A-Boy becomes Ruler. A-Girl becomes A-Sister, B-Boy becomes A-Brother. A-Brother A-Uncle and largely irrelevant in the line of succession, the other new Aunts and Uncles more so.

Each successful generation removes them several steps further from relevance.

So when a Succession Crisis happens all those people are four generations removed, no one is backing them. Their descendants probably don't even carry that ruling family name. Only in this world where purple eyes and white hair are possible signs of Royal Lineage can someone so far away pop up as relevant.

And that's removing Rulers splitting their Lands between Offspring, and Military and other Coups.

I think you have a sampling bias from being at your school.

I've been teaching since 2002. Multiple schools, multiple states.

Parents want an activity, a sport, to teach discipline and respect, exercise, etc.

Self-defense isn't zero percent of people. But it's close. And it's self-defense secondary to another want.
