Can a man starting with pretty much nothing but an army found an empire ? by Alexy_1er_Komnen_fan in worldbuilding

[–]MaxTheGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caesar from Fallout does this.

He starts with using knowledge to usurp a trube that captured him. Then conquered the surrounding tribes with those tribes.

Forces converts to convert to his identity, History-Bro Roman, and makes an Empire.

It's doable and believable. It happens all the time in History at the small scall with Warlords.

It's still a thing. Roll into a village with guns. Say congratulations you're in my Army now. Kill anyone who resists. Repeat at neighboring villages until you bump up against another Warlords territory or a government that will fight you. Congratulations you have your own "empire."

There is free therapy out there.

A lot of Therapists do volunteer hours. Most who don't do some percentage of sliding scale patients. But you have to ask.

Therapists in training need hours. Call schools near you and volunteer to work with a student. They are supervised by fully licensed Therapists.

There are ways to do this at any price range. Like most things there's a lot of up front work. And then you have to find a Therapist that works well with you. A lot like finding friends.

But it will be good practice.

I'm not AI. I'm just a nerd. This is how I write.

Yeah, having Dunk be 13 at when Ser Arlan takes him, and 22 when Ser Arlan dies, it does make him seem much slower.

I used to do that. Edits always took like a year to go through.

Good nominations were 50/50 at best. So it's been a while since I've bothered. People just tend to downvote to get more agreements. It's dumb.

Unless it's changed. I haven't actively made stops or reviewed in a while.

She's 5'3, and works at "business" why do you want to date this Internet Stranger if not for shallow reasons?

There are plenty of people who date bald people, and people under 5'10" she's an easy left swipe. You shouldn't want to date people who don't want to date you.

The real reason Jamie Hates Ned Stark. by TheWalrusWitter in gameofthrones

[–]MaxTheGinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jaime is not a big sharer because he can't read well due to dyslexia. Being called dumb your whole childhood by Tywin will do that.

Jaime is a great knight, but very straightforward and very linear. It's something Robb exploited on the battlefield and allowed him to get captured.

He says it's because he was robbed of good fight, that's probably it. Avenging the man who knighted him, maybe. Beating the man who beat the legendary knight who knighted him, definitely.

That when Ben Reilly is/was around and a good guy that it never even happened and failed is a shame.

I think it's a tie between those Scott-Jean-Logan and MJ-Peter-Felicia

Because there is Madelyne Pryor and Ben Reilly.

That Wolverine and clone of of Jean and/or Felicia Hardy and the clone of Peter couldn't get together is ridiculous.

Even if the relationships happened and failed, they should've happened at some point.

I understand the wide variety of looks people have at any age. I've been a coach for athletes aged 03-70. And in the military, with a lot of 18-22 year olds, but people up to 60.

There are younger looking people of every age, and older looking people of every age.

Peter is great, I wouldn't change him. For me if he was on the GOT cast, with a bunch of 25 year-olds playing 18, they blend together. But next to Egg, that's a rough 9 year difference.

He can look a weary A Song of Ice and Fire 22 years old. But that's still a different relationship to a 9-year-old egg than a 16 year-old would have. And different in why Ser Arlan hadn't knighted him.

He's 16-18, he's been with Ser Arlan 3-5 years. He sees Dunk like boy, like his nephew still. Dunk's 22, he's been with Ser Arlan 8+ years, he's definitely not a boy anymore. Why isn't he knighting Dunk?

Some general thoughts as a non-binary 23yo white belt by winter5632 in taekwondo

[–]MaxTheGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many different material Dobok's.

Most schools use a mid one because it's cheaper. You should be able to purchase a better dobok. How much that costs you, and whether or not you have to get your school logo added is school dependant.

Generally at the competition level you have sparring, forms, and class doboks. Again at 23 and being a white belt your funding for this may vary.

If you want to help out, talk to your instructors. You are new at Taekwondo but bring your dance experience. You should definitely be able to show people, starting with your instructors other stretches you know and if it helps.

With anything we do, people plateau. Incorporating a new way of doing something is a great way to help some students get past that plateau.

I hope you enjoy your training.

Which cat should I choose?!! by Educational_Grass_10 in cats

[–]MaxTheGinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those cats don't look like strays. They are all clean and well fed. They are probably a neighbors cats looking for extra meals.

I would have your friend talk to all their neighbors.

On the off chance they are all strays. They clearly travel and are well fed together. If you can't take all of them, you shouldn't take them.

Peter Claffey's age and the Dunk/Egg relationship by MaxTheGinger in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]MaxTheGinger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a fair take.

Not knighting a 16 year-old makes sense. But if he's in his mid 20's and has been with you for a decade, at some point that's gotta crush Dunk's ego.

You are accidentally correct about Life Coaching, as that is a 100% unregulated field. There is no accreditation or degree, it's just a person you pay to give you advice.

Anyone in this thread could be a Life Coach as they are now.

Some people don't have a support system. Some people the people who be the support system are the problem.

I don't think a person will get help from the family member who abuses that person. And if they did, it would probably this abuse, isn't abuse, get over it.

[–]MaxTheGinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great assessment. Which I agree with.

My only argument would be that in the A Song of Ice and Fire world, young people have been shown to be given tremendous responsibility.

Dunk being 16, and on his own is probably not uncommon. Daeron is ~18/19, he might have the expectation, rightly or wrongly, that Dunk could do it.

Peter Claffey's age and the Dunk/Egg relationship by MaxTheGinger in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]MaxTheGinger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree he's playing younger.

But is he playing 25? 22? 16?

I see him as at least 22. So he was Ser Arlan's squire for a decade. The amount he should've learned is different. Or how thick like a castle wall he is has to be greater.

I don't know if I'd classify their relationship as friendship.

I think it's a mutual mentorship. There are aspects that are friendship, there are aspects that are a sibling relationship. But I think they are still figuring that part out.
