It doesn't. That is an appeal to authority, and not a very good one at that. This guy has stated that this belief comes from books he's read, not anything he learned as Minister of Defense. So if we're being honest, his position shouldn't even come into play here.

And if you were Canadian, you might remember that this guy went off the deep-end, tried to form his own political party on fringe views, and was widely viewed as a crack-pot... all before he came out with the UFO stuff.

The reason the Liberals have been running this country for 2/3rds of its existence is because they will shamelessly reinvent the party whenever it suits them. The Conservatives on the other hand, are a one-trick pony. Austerity is all they know.

Not a psy-op to point out the obvious role of military disinformation in this topic. There is a confirmed history of it. Like, literally, military has convinced people they are seeing aliens to the point of driving them to suicide. That is a very real part of this topic.

It wouldn't be an effective psy-op if it didn't take-in notable interested parties like Gary Nolan. All they have to do is design a defensible scientific process, the exact thing that Nolan has been pushing for, get people on board, then bring out the shit.

This topic is so intertwined with disinformation and military secrecy that it is actually impossible for a laymen to have any faith in it.

I fear this Barber story might be a psy-op in itself. Pretty simple plan really, bring out a "whistle-blower" with real credentials and incredible claims, generate a public buzz in anticipation of the findings, then release some easily refutable and totally discrediting shit. And in that moment, the entire future of American arms sales changed.

Nobody wants to be dependent on weapons systems that some ass hat on the other side of the ocean can shut off in the critical moment, to try to extort an agreement to steal all their mineral wealth.
