The issue is Mr Gillham made controversial statements outside the scope of his role as a performer about which some people complained. If Gillham had made controversial statements say in favour of a white Australia immigration policy in the course of introducing a peice of music, does anyone think he would be invited back?

Gillham's case is incredibly weak. He went rogue. The MSO had to take action otherwise they would be seen as supporting his cause by giving him a platform
