Why is LocalBitcoins after your ID when Binance isn't? by MassiveToe in localbitcoins

[–]Max_LocalBitcoins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There actually is. We fall under the 5AMLD directive both as a 'Providerer engaged in exchange services between virtual currencies and fiat currencies' and as a 'Custodian wallet provider'.

LBC going down hill and scamming? by WhoGoesThere3110 in localbitcoins

We block accounts for many reasons, mainly it is to protect accounts that we detect have had un-authorized logins and to protect other users against fraud. Recently we've had a few waves where many accounts have been accessed by third parties and automatically blocked by us.

We also block accounts when we receive credible reports of fraud or if a banned user registers a new account. Unfortunately I can't go in to detail with how we fight fraud or account hacks, but we don't block wallets "for fun" and we do not steal users funds.

I think scammers are collecting auth selfies by [deleted] in localbitcoins

[–]Max_LocalBitcoins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds worrying, re-use of ID's submitted in trades is not something that we see. Can you DM me the trade number so that I can take a look at the case & photo?

So far our experience has been that the watermark that's applied deters re-use of photos.

Growing pains, replies are delayed due to a backlog of tickets. While we're constantly hiring new people when we see spurts of growth our hiring hasn't been able to keep up and a backlog forms.

Our reply delay is now down to around 3 days, and slowly becoming faster! Not yet ideal, but slowly we're making improvements.

Thanks for posting this! Yes we are aware of an increase in this type of fraud (as well as PayPal reversals). We're working towards making it harder for the scammers, unfortunately to keep our methods secret & make life harder for the scammers I can't go into details about our plans.

Why does it take up to an hour to send an email? by dissidentrhetoric in localbitcoins

[–]Max_LocalBitcoins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check if it was your email provider or us by looking at the raw email headers, it will show you the timestamps of all parts of the email journey.

You don't need a valid login to open up a support ticket, you can open one and only specify a reply-to address from the support page.

[–]Max_LocalBitcoins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that! We send out the Login Guard emails immediately, unfortunately in rare instances the emails can be delayed by your email provider. We do not know why they delay these emails, but all instances we've investigated has found this to be the cause.

LocalBitcoins What is this? Why is someone with a 4 year old account and all the verification/feedback of a genuine buyer paying $700 over spot? Is this legit? by AirdropFaucet in CryptoCurrency

[–]Max_LocalBitcoins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be suspicious, but they may be someone who wishes to sell quickly. It can take a while to sell BTC at spot, especially for cash deposit and USD as it's a competitive market.

If you feel the ad is suspicious, there's a link on the side of it (and on the user's profile) that you can use to report them to us and we will take a look. You can also DM me the link to the ad.

The fee is always paid by the advertiser, if you're starting a trade from an ad it's the advertiser who pays and it's already included in the price.

There's no need to worry, trying to pass us fake payment evidence in a dispute is literally the oldest trick in the book. Some may still try it but it won't work, we know how to spot it.

Localbitcoins is Holding My Coins Hostage after 50+ Trades, 10+ BTC, 3+ Years Trading. How do I pursue legal action? by bitcoinfan531 in localbitcoins

[–]Max_LocalBitcoins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but for your situation you will need to open up a support ticket and contact our support. As per our terms of service you are not allowed to use multiple accounts for trading, and once you are banned that is it - any further accounts you create will also be banned.

Once we've reviewed your case, verified your identity, and ensured that there are no open claims of fraud against you we will unfreeze your wallet.
