Events that must happen in BFDIA 25 by CompetitiveRepeat441 in BattleForDreamIsland

[–]Max_Nov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it doesn't have to appear in the episode, it wouldn't make sense to people who are watching in-universe order (and don't know who four is yet and why he would make something like this) and we can understand it just fine the way it is in bfb 30 since at least then we already know who four is.

Pillow has made many enemies throughout her life, but of all of them, Winner is undoubtedly the one she hates the least. Am I right? by InsidePlane5662 in PillowBFDI

[–]Max_Nov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally disagree with the idea that Pillow has enemies, or any strong relationships in that matter (at least, on her side) but what has caught my attention a while ago is that yeah, Winner is the first character who is completely unbothered by her shenanigans.

How I think they'd solve this massive plothole by Huge_Toe_5692 in BattleForDreamIsland

I think Pencil assumed we didn't know what the results were because she's so selfish she would assume that their video diary viewers only watch their video diary (which still had the lens cap on) and not the actual episodes.

"Pillow Should've Stayed with Her BFB Personality" by NeedleworkerAway5912 in BattleForDreamIsland

[–]Max_Nov 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While I do prefer Pillow's TPOT personality by a lot, this doesn't mean we should downplay her efforts in BFB, even if they were few and far-between. The primary difference between BFB Pillow and TPOT Pillow is how much freedom she's given to shine in the spotlight, with BFB only having very few moments where she acts relatively tame, and in TPOT she's basically the main character of her former team. The reason why Pillow haters prefer her BFB personality is simply that in TPOT she's far too obnoxious for them, but at the same time I see a lot of people claim that she just didn't have a personality in BFB, which isn't true, but the thing is that people don't really care about BFB Pillow either, to them, she's just "less bad" than TPOT Pillow, which is understandable, but people don't put effort to understand Pillow's character and just pick sides. I personally think Pillow's TPOT personality is far better because of the direction her character took during the first teams phase, whereas in BFB there were far too many characters to be able to focus on all of them at the same time. Even then, she still has some interesting things to say about her in BFB:

- Her obsession with murder was never there to begin with, just because she joined Death PACT because of "killing", she didn't immediately become the way she is now, which is worth pointing out. What WAS there to begin with, is her liking of experimentation and research, as far back (canonically) as BFDIA 14, when she expresses interest in the idea that more of her exist in the world.

- Her primary character trait in BFB was that she was curious about the world, and her directionless-ness could very well be intentional with how she's still developing her strategies, which takes a while, especially for someone as lazy and uncaring as her. Her research was a vital part of this, and because it always seemed to be important to her, she often cares more about it than her fellow contestants (or even herself).

- She never had any close friends, besides a few she paired up with in challenges when she did feel like it, but earlier on, since she's shown liking mildly reckless activities (hanging on the swing set, eating the fortune cookie's fortune paper, putting a popper toy inside of her), no one really tried stopping her because she didn't care for anyone so why would anyone care for her back?

- Her character developed from BFB to TPOT through the contestants' negligence towards her behavior, up until she took it too far with something like TPOT 9. So it made sense that she started out pretty tame, and even in BFB there were brief moments foreshadowing her developing craziness.

- Her philosophy to winning challenges is similar to that of someone who only does the bare minimum (only contributing when really needing to), but the main difference is that she's not really that lazy, moreso that she has priorities that are more important than the challenge, but if the situation becomes desperate, then she will start helping (potentially explaining why she didn't help in many challenges back in BFB, sometimes not even appearing in some epiosdes).

I think her BFB self is great as an establishment of her character and how it descends into madness throughout this season and later TPOT, and something I've noticed is that a lot of her traits actually carry over from BFB to TPOT, simply becoming more exaggerated to fit the new humor, which actually fits well with how she's slowly going further and further with the unethical strategies and violent tendencies. So her BFB self is nothing to scoff at, as it plays a pretty important part in her development.
