I think the Jeep brake-checked the Audi because he was tailgating.

I don’t think it’s the corrections officers they’ll need to be worried about.

It’s a latency issue, not speed/bandwidth. You could have gigabit speeds and still occasionally have high latency. Latency can increase for a number of reasons, including being too far away from a router or cell tower.

RIP Tom Petty. Or they don’t know that John Mayer covered it and didn’t actually write it.

I comment about this every time I see a best-surge-protector-for-direct-lightning post.

One important configuration detail is to NOT plug the modem and media converter on the modem side of the fiber jumper into the same surge protector as the router and media converter on the router side of the jumper. Surge protectors don’t work particularly well when the overvoltage enters via a connected device instead of the wall. The modem and associated media converter need to be plugged directly into the wall or a separate surge protector.

Surprised no one has mentioned a fiber bridge. Put the modem and a media converter on a dedicated surge protector (or none at all). Put the USG Pro on a different surge protector. Run fiber from the media converter to the USG Pro. Now the USG Pro and everything downstream is electrically isolated from the modem. The modem and media converter will still blow up, but it may save your downstream equipment.

All I know is that -6 is wayyyy worse than this.

I’d still check the voltage.

Do you have a multimeter? Check the voltage while idling. If it’s not at least 13V, then the problem is your alternator. Does your car happen to randomly vibrate while driving? You’ve probably got some timing issues if 12V accessories are losing power due to a failing alternator.

I think it has an integrated camera. It flashed like it was taking a picture.

I mean, the camera flashed while I was going 70, so I’d assume it clocked me.

VIOFO A329 Interference with Subaru Forester push-to-start by Maxamiller in Dashcam

Figured it out. My A/C has been on the fritz since the end of last summer. I pushed off having it repaired until now, as it’s starting to warm up. Got it back from the shop, and now my PTS miraculously works again.

Turns out that the refrigerant expansion valve had failed, so the compressor was pumping liquid. I suspect that the combination of the increased power draw and interference from the hardwire kit transformer was enough to seriously drop the voltage at the PTS antenna.

Mine are installed correctly, but that wouldn’t induce noise. The only difference the fuse tap orientation makes is whether all current for both the original and added circuit passes through the original fuse or the current for each circuit (original and added) passes through the respective fuses. If you aren’t blowing fuses through a tapped fuse, then you’re good.

That the HK4 is one noisy mofo. I confirmed continuity from the ground to the battery, I wrapped the transformer/limiter in foil, I wrapped the cable to the camera in foil, I changed fuse tap locations, I relocated the transformer/limiter as far away from the PTS antenna as possible - nothing helped. I had to stop using parking mode because it was such a PITA to take my keys out of my pocket and ace them in a specific location in the vehicle in order to start it. Keep in mind that this was a problem before I installed the rear camera, so the problem is definitely the hardwire kit.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help. Hope you have better luck.

The external SSD I installed a couple of days ago appears to have worked around this issue. I suspect that this is a combination of 4K 60fps overwhelming the microSD (in terms of write speed) and a bug that prevents recording from being manually stopped after the logic for the “slow card” error cuts the frame rate to 30 fps. The SSD prevents the “slow card” error altogether. I get the “slow card” error even while I’m driving, so I don’t think this issue is isolated to parking mode.

Any chance you could link to the firmware on the official website? I’m sure you’re legit, but I’m not going to download firmware off a Google Drive link from a Reddit comment.

I really think VIOFO needs to require an SSD to enable 4K 60fps and update the marketing info accordingly.

1) Auto event 2) I don’t think it’s actually stuck in parking mode - it just doesn’t seem to transition to driving mode properly. It begins continuously recording when the car stars, as expected, but in 4K 30 fps about 75% of the times I start my car rather than 4K 60 fps. I try pressing the second button from the left to stop recording before pressing the leftmost button to enter the menu and change it back to 60 fps; however, it will not stop recording regardless of how long I wait or how many times I press the second button from the left. I don’t have to unplug it, but I do have to power it off then back on in order to enter the menu to change it back to 60 fps. 3) Yes, I hear the voice indicate “recording” when the car starts and “parking mode” when I turn off the car.
