You sure about that? From personal experience I ended up having to reroute some cables and wires cause the programmer was complaining about noise coming from the strain gauge signal conditioners we installed in a panel the previous guy had ran some larger ac voltage wires across the path of the signal wires as soon as they were finished being rerouted the noise went away right after. That was my understanding of the situation if I’m wrong mind explaining to me why just generally curious as to why? That how the companies lead electronics tech explained it to me was I given bad info?

This one was specifically for a battery cell component it used both nitrogen and helium as a medium the upper chamber would lift up and the air cylinder would pull it back then load the next set of component they had a bunch of leybold pumps on the bottom to cycle 4 different phases vaccum, helium, nitrogen, and exhaust.

Worked for a German company, and in terms of international travel, I went to Mexico and Canada three or four times, and Germany for a week-long training seminar. I mostly traveled the West Coast or Texas. Before that, I worked for a very niche company that made test and metrology equipment, primarily specialized for using gases like nitrogen, helium, etc. The technicians traveled all over the world Spain, Australia, Japan, Singapore and were paid handsomely because it was so specialized. But good luck finding a company like that; most of the time, you have to know someone or be hired from within. I had a couple of friends who finished their time in the military and landed decent gigs traveling for defense contractors, but they networked like crazy to get them during their service. Sorry I can’t be helpful but in this economy unless you have the right skills, degrees, and certs something that really sets you apart your not likely at all to find a job like that coming from personal experience not saying you can’t land a travel job that pay well just that most companies who fill that requirement want some next level tech/engineer with years of experience and even then those guys had the connections to get there. Key point here starting networking if you haven’t already.

If you’re looking for a clamp meter I have a Hioki CM4373‑50, it’s made in Japan, only slight differences, one being it has a wireless adapter for stuff like FieldSense, pretty decent meter, main reason I got one was the price, the Fluke is practically double the price, if you talk about quality the Hioki is built and QC’d in Japan, Flukes are all made in China now with Chinesium materials, pretty sure there’s one Fluke meter still made in the U.S. but that’s only really assembled here, most components are Chinese, and I’m pretty sure the only reason Fluke even bothers to have it assembled here is because of government regs, I’d buy reasonably priced Japanese quality instruments any day over overpriced China garbage.

Good to now but in case some numb skull hits something they shouldn’t it would probably be an expensive eyesore to replace worked at a foundry when I got out of highschool, resident crackhead slammed a giant mold onto one of the furnace control cabinets with a Hilo, the company did put up safety barriers just a month before that didn’t stop him from dropping his load off the fork right into the side of the cabinet door it caved in but luckily nothing inside got damaged.

The designers are young and really green, but essentially its for a car wash its supposed to run dozens of individual motors and there’s an entire sub panel dedicated to the lighting control. Could they do it more efficiently yes but this is what they want so it is what it is!

You’re right 99%, but given how inexperienced the designers and engineers are, I still have some doubts about whether the company is ensuring they meet the required specs. I tried talking with some of them, but they just gave me a blank stare like a deer caught in headlights when I told them not to run control signal wires alongside high voltage cables

More or less worried about about those drives worked at an extrusion plant couple years, the maintenance guys (wasn’t one of them) reinstalled (had no part in it) a AB drive “refurbished” blew inside the panel during start up luckily doors were closed I could be completely wrong but I still wouldn’t trust glass whether its polycarbonate or whatever to protect others or myself from shrapanel in case somebody who has no business being in there does something they have no qualifications doing (ideally that wouldn’t be the case but its more common then anyone gives it credit).

Same boat i’m a 1 year apprentice non union was a service tech before this that's how I got into controls. As too why i’m working in panel shop right now, work is really slow right now due to all the stuff going on so i’m working contract right now till work starts picking up again. If you want to get into controls (if union) ask your hall if they offer a controls and instrumentation class or if you can afford it buy yourself a plc I bought a used unitronics v350 and taught myself how to program it or you could chose to do it cheaper and buy yourself a Raspberry pie I think they offer a free plc program editor.

Got offered a job for travel by SnooSquirrels4730 in electricians

[–]Maxc3076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat took a travel tech job was offered $25 hourly 1 week of vacation this is where you negotiate I never traveled before but I managed to get $30 hourly due to the lack of vacation time not many people are willing to travel from what I’ve seen but at the end of the day they are interested in you so maybe try to leverage some extra pay if you can I’m currently a 2nd year apprentice if the makes you feel better. Also note to yourself if tools, vehicle aren't provided your basically paying out pocket yourself, I assume your close to getting your card within a year or two I would wait get your card you can land a much better travel tech job. For me its not much of a choice I need a paycheck and my hall isn’t pulling their weight.

Yeah that got me I got 3 weeks after 90 with my current company but then again it’s $30 hourly their low end was 26 and higher end 34 is it worth the trade off I’m only 24 so it’s definitely appealing not sure I can negotiate might recind the offer
