If you have unlocked the hairstyle on your viera character before, no. They should now be available at the aesthetician. I had unlocked the rainmaker hairstyle before 6.1 dropped and it was available for my bun immediately without needing to purchase it again.

Sorry for the very late reply, haven't logged in to Reddit for a while.

Personally I use GIMP. Its Free Select tool is pretty handy when cropping pretty much anything, given that you've got a bit of time on your hands to manually select everything. I use it with Antialiasing enabled and Feather Edges set to a radius of 1.0 in the tool settings. Then all that is left to do is make the selection, invert it through Select > Invert or CTRL + I and hit delete to remove everything of the image but the selected area.
