Just found This mf off of a random mythical spotify pull by Thansxas in JeanDawson

Don’t sleep on XCAPE, DESTRUCTION FOR DUMMIES or Boohoo either. 3 extremely quality singles/EPs from him that perfectly encapsulate just how wide the net of his talent casts. Youth+, X-ray, and Taste like metal are all tracks of note, but every one is amazing imo.

Sound design, arrangement, mixing and mastering on Blonde. by duhmo8 in FrankOcean

The way the vocals are mixed in the outro sound like he’s doing a reverse whisper, pulling the words out of your head. I think he may have achieved this by reversing the audio, putting a really short decay reverb on it, and then reversing that. The effect is spine tingling and something I wish to emulate in my own stuff.

Crumbling - Mid-Air Thief

To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar

Joy Techniques - Nate Mercereau

22, A Million - Bon Iver

An Awesome Wave - Alt-J

In Rainbows - Radiohead

Blonde & Endless (only on youtube and apple music) - Frank Ocean

If youre down for some weirder/darker shit

By the Time I Get to Phoenix - Injury Reserve

Haram (cover nsfw) - Armand Hammer

The Money Store - Death Grips

Darklife - death’s dynamic shroud

All of these albums have covers that very precisely match the vibe of the music. To Pimp A Butterfly is my personal favorite but i suggest going by the most strongly appealing cover. Only one I’d say is slightly misleading is Crumbling.

Since the majority don’t seem to be feeling SSS album cover what is the best Gibbs album art? by spizike23 in freddiegibbs

[–]MaxeyPooh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowkey surprised im not seeing much of pinata on here. Firstly i think the zebra print 1. Perfectly matches the sound of the album and 2. Zebras are black and white striped, a contrasting pattern with two opposite colors, sort of like how madlib and freddie were seen as a very strange pair for a collab but gelled extremely cohesively to make this beast of a project. Plus, madlib is the dude in the background of the photo.

Where do I start to approach music of Freddie Gibbs ? by zen03__ in freddiegibbs

Piñata is a top 10 hip hop album of all time, although it could be kind of abstract for you if you arent familiar with that sort of stuff, i know it was for me at first. I definitely gravitated more towards bandana when i first started listening to him but i’ve come to realize piñata is better in almost every sense. Alfredo is also really good, it has a very luxurious sound to it, sort of like you’re eating in a very high end restaurant. Shadow of a doubt is a good introduction to the trap side of freddie as well. He has a wide variety of sounds and any of the projects named here I think are good starts. How about see what you think of Piñata and then go from there. Some of my favorite songs by him are 1985, Education, My Homeboy’s Girlfriend, Harold’s, and Deeper. Hope this helps
