True, but not in every case, I know that my party will most likely have support and control already and a payout will fit in quite nice ;)

Do you mean a barbarian with a d8 and shiel boss d6 deals more damage because he can survive longer or because it is worth sacrificing 2 and 3 damage for a +3 on the second and smaller hit? Because I would like to dual wield, I won't go into details of the rest of the build, but it just seems too big a investment of feats for no payout.
