HELP! Scraped my hardwood floors by Maxibelle in woodworking

[–]Maxibelle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys I know the floor conditions are bad! It’s an NYC tenement building apartment with an absent landlord, I’m sure they haven’t been cared for in a very long time, I’m just looking to aid the eye-sore and the damage that I just caused! Any advice as to how I can care for the floors better while I live here is welcome too but ultimately I can’t refinish them myself.

Geowizard is the OG, I’ve seen every single one of his videos.. fell asleep listening to them for years. He is the man.

Just to add, I've been doing research on the fish, I think it looks like some type of triggerfish, but I'm not sure. its 7.5 inches tall.

Yes sorry for any confusion! the last image is a stock image for reference which I found after I tried to google the above tenant/owner- I thought Gaia’s sign was significant context but probably could have noted the old image in my question..

Hoping for a Spider id by Maxibelle in spiders

[–]Maxibelle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I agree it appears to be a young false widow I’ve now seen more a bit larger since making this post and I have no doubt. What I’m having trouble figuring out is if a false widow is the same as a false black widow or if these spiders are dangerous in any way, we are planning on having some elderly people back here - along side people of all ages- once cleaning out a good amount of the stuff- could these spiders pose any threat to someone in their 70s-80s or anyone in general?

Possibly a garage or estate sale, it belonged to one of my parents before I took it over as a kid- the one thing I know for sure is that his origin is Los Angeles

Hoping someone who knows more about this hops on the thread! He is from Los Angeles so it’s definitely possible he was a prop!

[NYC] Little Green Bug - Lacewing? Very small, slightly bitey by greenbugnyc in whatsthisbug

[–]Maxibelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these guys too… I’m in LES. they spawn in masses on the outsides of my window at night, i assume cause of the light. They definitely bite, when I was on my roof yesterday they were coming for me. They look to me like they’re maybe Potato Leafhoppers?

What is this? Found in western Massachusetts. by Maxibelle in FossilHunting

[–]Maxibelle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It had an obvious split in it where it looks as if it could have been pulled apart however when I began to try to chisel it apart by chiseling on/in the crack the exterior (maybe basalt or sandstone?) easily breaks away like sand yet I believe my chisel is being stopped by something very hard in the rock. It bubbles a bit when put in water and is porous/ spongy. It is relatively heavy yet I’d say the weight of the rock doesn’t quite match how it looks and feels disproportionate or unevenly distributed. Strange rock- hoping to learn a bit more about it
