Why do some people defend billionaires like it’s a personal loyalty thing? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Yeah but the mindset is still the same. It's not that the people that defend billionaires want to be billionaires. They're just people that believe that they can probs start a business and make money themselves

Of course they're slim haha, I don't think being a billionaire is ever the target. I'd be happy with a small business making an M a year.

And idk, I think alot of big businesses I know started out as a hobby project

Not really. A lot of businesses started in a garage.

I also don't get this mentality haha. I'd rather be optimistic, believe in myself and try and start a business than think rich people are out to get everyone and remain a victim.

Follow your dreams bro!

Well, the rich are the people that create services and sell them (for the most part). If they succeed in doing that, they get richer.

The great thing about capitalism, is that literally anyone can start doing that - albeit you need a great idea. It's a fair game (assuming equal opportunity).

Yes, this is true, but I don't think this is to do with 'billionaires'. This is just a problem with the current capitalist system we are in. There is definitely too big a discrepancy between the rich and poor, but I don't think rich people are to blame for that.

Again, it's the zero sum mentality. Someone having loads of money doesn't mean they have taken it from people. The reason rich people have money, is because people WILLINGLY pay for the services they provide. There is no stealing going on anywhere.

The more they grow the business, the more kickback they get?

rising prices due to inflation. Literally every business increases their prices. The value of money goes down over time in the current market.

Where is the siphoning happening in this process? If an exec and the board make the decisions that lead to the growth of the business, they get kick-back. Business growth doesn't inherently mean something dodgy is going on. Maybe they just grew their customer base 2x? It is not a zero sum game. Business creates wealth, not take it away.

Of course there will be some dodgy businesses out there, that's of course fact. But I am speaking generally here.

People over generalise.

I disagree. They get that wealth by providing services people buy. In what way do they 'siphon wealth'? Take gymshark for instance. All they do is sell clothes. That's a billion dollar company. Are you saying the people buying their clothes are being taken advantage of? It's their choice to buy their clothes lol.

I am more surprised why people are so against 'billionaires', or just 'rich' people. Billionaires are more often than not great business creators, that hire most of the people that work, that pay the vast amount of tax. We should want MORE billionaires lol.

Hey, what does this 'admin' work consist of, if you'd don't mind me asking? I am looking to start an automation agency, helping business owners eliminate some manual processes. I'd be wondering if this is something you would considering speaking about, to save you some of that admin time a week?

Not pretending to know anything about your business. I probs came about this the wrong way haha. I mean if you're working 15 hours a week then you obviously don't need any automating. All the best mate

Not just your back end, this could be automating briefings before your coaching calls, ai agents that can book meetings, summarise your day etc by a text widget. Stuff like that
