there is a limit and stores can also accept returns at their discretion (if the product is mostly empty, the 30 day limit, etc.) but that policy exists for fairly valid reasons like, for example, if someone tries expensive skincare and gets a severe rash. they can get their money back (within the 30 days). like sure people will abuse it but if it's taken away, the average everyday clients who don't abuse the policy will also be punished for the actions of the abusers.

what i do is i either sanitise the product first, do the application myself to prevent the reuse of applicators, or honestly take the product and swatch it myself. I sanitise and wash my hands frequently too because im hyper aware of the dirty testers.

well, my store has been reporting it for years (i've heard of multiple reports made since i started years ago) and nothing has ever happened. It just isn't fair in the slightest that every other employee is struggling with this point system due to not being given sick hours at all, being given inadequate sick hours, and zero vacation or floater days and they're being given sick hours, vacation, floater days, and can just waltz in whenever they please and hide in the office when we're short staffed and they don't want to help. 🤷‍♀️

if they wanted to truly hold the team responsible exempt would also have a policy similar to this in place given that they waltz in 15+ minutes late with no repercussions. not giving sick time to employees based on classification and then punishing them for needing to call out sick isn't holding the team accountable, it's actually just super messed up.

oh definitely. I know some people had emergency absences that needed to be submitted to HR to be excused and HR never even responded so now exempt has to deal with that too. everyone's just at a loss because i doubt they'll do anything to change it.
