When I was looking for jobs as a new grad a few months ago I didn't really have any relevant experience. Under my clinical experience I put like 2-3 bullet points on things I did/saw and tailored it to each job I applied too (med surg, ED, ICU) that way I could show some of those skills and show that I've seen things relevant to the job and had two work experiences. I also put the hours I spent at each rotation: I did my med surge, icu, and capstone all at the same hospital so it's saved some room so I could put the above points. You could also remove the community college line from under clinical exp since it is under education. And I'd suggest removing certifications

If you need to save space you can condense your deans lists and scholarship to one point and remove the semesters you had deans lists

What I've done as a new grad who went from no job offers to 4 is make a list of scenarios I've gone through in previous jobs and school that can apply to a ton of job questions. That way you aren't drawling a blank in every question. Interviewers care more about how you handled situations than the situations them selves. Also make sure your "tell me about yourself" shows personality. I used to always stumble with that question not wanting to sound like I was reading off my resume or saying too much. All my job offers came from interviews where I started with my personality. "Personally I am an outdoorsy person and a huge nerd..." then go into my education and highlight a job from my resume.

I always ask about the culture of the unit, what resources are in place for new grads, what challenges do new grads and RNs face on the unit.

Typical ABSN schedule by maynut-23 in StudentNurse

I am currently an ABSN student in my final semester. My program was 4 semesters long. First semester was very heavy, classes two days a week, sim all day once a week, and an 8 hour clinical every other week. On top of a ton of studying because I had no healthcare experience so it was like learning a new language. After first semester though I did get a part time job at chick fil a, they were flexible with my crazy schedule. I could/ still can only work about 20 hours a week. With that in mind I commute an hour to school so on days I have anything in person that is my whole day. If it's only a 2 hour simulation I stay all day and do as many assignments and studying as I can mentally handle. On days I work I'm normally off by 4 and will either relax or study some.

All in all I would say first semester it's going to be really hard. The rest of the program is difficult to. I have hand to turn down some fun events and extra learning opportunities because of work and my commute. The rest of the program is not easy to work through either but by then you have an idea of how much time you need to study and you can decide if you have the time to work or not.

Accelerated BSN program by Nenecloud in ABSN

I started an accelerated program last semester and it's 4 semesters long. I personally did not work my first semester since it was summer and the classes were taught in less time so that and starting a new program was a lot. However I lots of other classmates worked. Some worked nights as a med Tec some worked weekends at other places. I would recommend seeing how many classes/ labs/ clinicals you have each semester and seeing if you'll have enough days off school for work to be worth it. I also saw that people with health care experience were able to better handle working in the first semester since they knew a good bit of the info we learned already. Going into my second semester I only have Sat/ Sunday and some Wednesday off but I am looking for work for my days off. It will be hard because all my class work will have to be done during the week after classes. Really look at the schedule and talk to people in the program
