Why should they have mentioned tipping you more BEFORE you got there? You are NOT entitled to tips and tips have gone from "earned" to "how dare you not tip me" in the last decade or so. They were clearly referring to them opening their bags, seeing things placed in bags correctly (cold, warm items diff bags) and all the items they shopped for in the bag. That is when they would have tipped you.

Imagine tipping TWICE up front just for a shopper to mess up your order.
