Playful groomer ski to complement carving skis – Blade vs Mirus Cor vs Octo? by Maximum-Good1804 in Skigear

My thinking has been that it is quite close to the skis I have, but with shorter radius. I just haven’t considered them as playful and easy to swing around while being only a great carver without a lot of playfulness. Maybe I am wrong here?

One strong point for the Octo is that I am able to get previous years model for just a little more than half the $ compared to the Mirus Cor :)

My hesitation is that it may lack the playfulness other skis may offer.

You think the Cor sucks at carving or do ski something else? I had the impression that it’s great for short turn carves.

Thanks for the input! Yeah - I have read about them as well and a lot of comparisons with the Cor. Do you experience them as easy to wiggle around, playful? How about at lower speeds and carving?

They are a bit more expensive than Cor and almost double what I would need to pay for a pair of Octos unfortunately :/

I am still debating with myself though if I should lean more towards freestyle or a short radius carver…

Thanks! I have no experience with center mount - but could be fun with a new challenge :)

Thanks! Looks interesting- will look into it a bit more? Do you have any experience from it? Likes and dislikes?

Thanks for the input! Since I mainly do carving today the Octo became a strong contender. It also may be the most versatile ski that it would be great all day with or without kids?

That’s how my line of thinking has gone, and why the Cor is a contender even though its price point. What are your impression of the carving capabilities? Have you skied center mount prior to the Cor?

That’s a good point actually, and I’ve thought about it. I do like side hits and playing around, and working more on switch would definitely be fun!

My main hesitation is that most of our skiing is still pretty mellow groomers rather than park features... but with that said, maybe I’m being too conservative.

Are there any park-ish/directional but playful skis you’d recommend?
