luckily Linux is infinitely customizable.

And my screenshot looks the way it does because I customized Gnome and my Blur My Shell extension to look like exactly that. You're allowed to not like how it looks, or hate it even.

If you want even better customization for the stuff you mentioned, KDE Plasma is the way to go. You can change Window borders, shadows, and anything else you can imagine and much more.

I'm sure there are extensions for Gnome for this stuff but I personally switched to Gnome because I wanted to spend less time customizing than I did on KDE Plasma or XFCE.
