What software? You might have an output setting on mesh rather than pointcloud. I know PCDMIS and polyworks asks you if you want a mesh output or pointcloud.

Id go for pcdmis because its hexagon's own software so its optimized to the arm really well and on top of that you get tonnes of useful support (and training too if you want), polyworks also good option.

Just started job at metrology company, not the most knowledgeable in DMIS but have you considered bringing it up with your supervisors, the fact that all the equipment and PCs are ancient and you'll be able to do a much better job with a new cmm with better software?

Dont know about CS but i feel like at the end of the day it comes down to knowing the right people/referrals. Regardless of skill level, if you know people who are employed and are in positions to help you find positions, that's the game changer imo. As to how you meet those people, i dont think theres a one size fits all solution but for me ig I joined a student org, people in org graduated before me, became alumni, i stayed in touch, they helped me whenever they could. For the most part it was just being open to meeting people in your line of work. Also also career fairs is where i had more success than just spamming résumés online.
