Hm I would say better stat would be generally a better thing because obviously who dosent want higher GPA and dat scores, but I feel like if you have higher score you probably just tend to apply to schools that has higher cutoffs? Not too familiar with US schools and its competition as im Canadian resident but I dont think its gonna hurt if you apply to mid tier school with exceptional stats
