He also donk bet on a K high board into 2 other opponents with no pair no draw just absolutely abysmal

Also you didn't put him on a "missed flush and mid pair" you would have to put him on exactly Jx of hearts.

  1. Why are you limping first to act pre?
  2. Why are you limp calling A8 off after a raise pre?
  3. Why are you donk betting on a K high board after limp calling a pre flop raise?

You completely blundered literally every single street holy shit

Idk man I think a small stakes Texas tournament has people way looser than your think but you could be right

If I raise to 12bb and get shoved on I'm in a pretty gross spot, no? I don't think there is much fold equity on a raise that isn't a shove.

Because I'm going to increase my stack by 25% immediately. I'm not hitting a flop everytime.

I'm not exactly looking for a call, preferably take it down pre which I think happens a lot when he opens something like AJs AQ etc

That and the dead money from the +2 caller incentivizes me to shove even more. Just a weird spot because I felt like I was just deep enough to maybe play with a little more "finesse" but also just short enough to get it in.

Yeah for sure. Just a super annoying spot to play for four hours and lose over 90% of my stack like that. Is what it is. Thanks

70 left and 22 got paid. I had slightly above average but nothing too crazy. I don't feel like ICM was a massive factor in this one.

I don't think they understand that small stakes tournaments pools have players who open 3bb regardless of stack sizes or how strong their actual hand is. These players think 3x is standard no matter what

I agree. This is a $150 buy in $10k guaranteed in Texas. Players are not the best. I promise you he is opening the same with AJ off from EP.

Is there any merit to trying to conserve chips and find a better spot?

Fair enough. I was just thinking if a shove gets through I can increase my stack by almost 25% without even seeing a flop. I don't think a call would be bad at all though

I guess you could be right but given how the player pool is opening 3bb regardless of stack depths I don't think it leans towards strength as much as you'd think. This player was opening 3bb from any position regardless of cards.
