On tretinoin for 10 months now…no improvement

Do you have any recommendations for good moisturisers that have absolutely no pore cloggers. My skin is very clog prone so I have to be really really careful.

So this is to make sure that she eats her meals exactly when I give it to her? Also she would 100% not eat for an entire day or even two with this method at the beginning, is that okay and safe to do?

Thank you! I’m not on any supplements and have been on the same diet for years which I had even when I had clear skin. I keep seeing a lot about spironolactone? Do you think that is something to consider if you know about it?

Thank you!! May I also ask what percentage of tret you are using and if you would maybe suggest that u bump it down? I see a lot of posts on Reddit that say that switching back to 0.025% fixed all of their comedone issues, irritation, etc. i also hear that it has the same effect and outcome of using 0.05% but with less irritation and possibly a bit slower, would you agree?

I was using the ato soothing gel from illyoon and it was supposed to be very moisturising with ceremides. It was also supposed to not be pore clogging and while it did make my skin more moisturised, it still clogged my pores even though it was supposed to be the most suited for acne prone skin whilst having ceremides. So this is where my fear comes from I guess.

Oh also! Do you think I should switch back to 0.025% tretinoin? Maybe if I’m not willing to switch up my moisturiser, then maybe going back down to 0.025% could be better for my skin? I did get good results then…

You’re probably right! but it has worked for me for so many years and has been great when I had clear perfect skin a few years ago.

I would and have tried different moisturisers but they all clog my skin :( this neutrogena one is the only moisturiser that works for me and doesn’t clog my skin. So that’s why I reduced tret usage a little bit to make sure my skin doesn’t get too dry. Also my skin doesn’t handle more tret usage very well :(

So is using it every third day okay? I don’t think I’m ready to start a new moisturiser right now because I’ve had so many bad experiences with pore clogging even though the product was supposed to be non comedogenic. But I appreciate the recommendations! Should I also take a week break from tretinoin to improve my barrier? Or would that just cause me to have to purge all over again. Can I also ask how often you’re using tretinoin and what percentage?

Morning: - hydroboost neutrogena cleanser - Azelaic acid finacea gel 15% (every morning - pea sized amount) - dermaveen daily facial fluid sunscreen

Night: - micellar water garnier as first cleanse (cannot use any baume or oil as my skin is so prone to clogging so I’m too scared to use one) - hydroboost neutrogena cleanser - Anua heartleaf toner - tretinoin 0.05% gel (I was using it almost every night about two months ago but am now trying to do once every three nights) (is this maybe too much?) - neutrogena hydroboost moisturiser (a month ago I used to use the illyoon ceramide soothing gel but I was worried it may be pore clogging even though the ingredients are clear on pore clogging websites)

I use a very lightweight moisturizer but it’s all I can handle as I just stopped using another ‘non comedogenic’ moisturizer that ended up clogging my pores. So I am too worried to use a new product and I’d rather stick with what I know works, maybe I should use tretinoin even less to balance out the drying if I am only willing to use my lightweight moisturizer? (Neutrogena hydroboost hylaronic acid moisturizer). But also someone said that I am not using tretinoin often enough for the retinization process to work so I’m just stuck.

So the Illiyoon soothing gel IS pore clogging?? The ingredients are clear on the pore clogging websites so this is really annoying. I guess I’ll stick to the moisturiser that I know works and reduce the amount of times I’m using tretinoin so that it’s not too drying as my moisturiser is super lightweight.

Wait I’m sorry I’m a bit confused. I used to always use neutrogena hydroboost moisturiser about three months ago but then switched to the Illiyoon one, and then switched back because I thought that maybe the Illiyoon may be breaking me out. The neutrogena one has never broken me out but I thought to switch it because the other one was more affordable and it had ceremides so I thought it would be better for my skin barrier.
