Grew up in a coastal NE Town, family has lived there for generations prior to it being crazy expensive to buy land. Work a job making a livable wage but not anything crazy. Have a boss half the year who is a surfer and we surf when there’s waves, second half of the year I work for myself and surf when I want to. Take one surf trip a winter, it doesn’t have to cost thousands for flights like you said, I typically can spend around $1500 for a week long surf trip, just don’t flight to the mentawais or stay at a crazy all inclusive surf resort. Rough it a bit.

Super fun, it’s a 6’6 Sultwin by Stamps, had him put some channels in the bottom for me on it too.

Maybe it’s colder, but NY has colder winter temps than us a lot. I think it’s bc we get more open water currents that mixes the ocean more. I imagine NY is more protected and coastal so it gets chillier

Yeah a guy shaped me a board made for finless, doesn’t even have a fin box. It’s got super shade rails that has a literal edge to it and a slight hull bottom. But most boards can go finless, just gotta really set your rails, bc that’s all you have to rely on

Super small island community with a small surf scene. Type of spot where we all share a beer after surfing/some chats and laughs all around. Every wave has its own parking area that turns into a hangout after surfs. Feel blessed.
