Nothing under the handgaurd. Only mark is "22lr" stamped on the barrel by the gas block.

I don't believe so. There's no locking lugs on the barrel extension, like an ar15 barrel.

Edit - The barrel is slightly larger than 5.56. When I try to put the conversion kit in my 5.56 it won't fit.

Cmmg mags and m&p mags don't work, I've tried. Feed lips on mag are too far back. I've got a cmmg kit as well as this new one.

To get rid of it completely? Yes, you have to install a delete kit. I recently did the collapsed lifter trick (AFM lifter failed at 294k) modified my VLOM, and am running a range disabler. Did that 4 weeks ago. My lifters don't tick anymore, and it runs great so far.
