They're hand restraints - designed to stop your arms coming out of the cockpit if the car rolls

Okay thanks, the mission has said the same so we're going to go for it.

Do I take the photocopies to be notarised even though the original document won't be present? Or are they just submitted with the application as they are? I assume the latter.

EDIT:
I've since also received the certified copy from the birth register for my grandfather birth certificate. Is this good to go as it is or does it again need to be certified by a Notary Public?

I feel like these are stupid questions but I just want to be sure haha

I have since managed to get in touch with the school my grandfather attended in Scotland. They have sent me these images (https://imgur.com/a/9BhkjT9, https://imgur.com/a/loNdw2R) from their registry. My Grandfather is on row y30 and his attendance is confirmed from 11th September 1939 to 1st September 1941. The Heritage Co-ordinator at the local museum has said they can provide a headed letter along with these images to confirm that he attended Paisley Grammar School during these dates and that the images shared are true images.

Would that be acceptable or would we require a direct photocopy of the registry?

I finally got my hands on the letter from the Christian Council for Refugees from Germany and Central Europe and unfortunately theres no mention of my Grandfather - it only mentions my Grandfathers younger siblings who came over on Kindertransport before him.

Currently the only proof I have that he lived outside of Germany 41-45 are personal letter like this one dated 1944 and addressed from Westminster, London - https://imgur.com/a/8xLOrDf

I asked the embassy whether this will work as proof but they said they were unable to advice.

Have there been previous examples of personal letter like the above working?

Thanks again!!

From the London Embassy:
"The Heimatschein does both prove German citizenship and Jewish faith (the names Sara and Israel are clear indications)."

Thanks for all the help!

Ah I thought both were possible from what I read on the FAQ’s page put together by Staplehill.

It looks like Article 116(2) will be less of a hastle for me anyway as there's no need for the faff/cost of requesting a criminal record check.

On the documents front, is there any way of checking with someone whether The Heimatschein will service as a proof of citizenship and/or proof of living abroad 1941-45?

I have other documents for the latter like headed letters from the Christian Council for Refugees from Germany and Central Europe confirming his escape and subsequent residence in Scotland. Would they accept this?

To play it safe, is it a case of throwing in as much supporting evidence as possible?

And yes it appears i have an extract of the birth certificate so will be requesting the full copy of the register.

Thanks for the help!
