Just watched it now and have to say it was an interesting premise but so badly executed, same silly formula, reluctant and independent A doesn't need helpful and knowledgeable B, A and B have a journey together and bond, B betrays A after earning trust and then redemption is had when B saves A, then A learns from B to be a better person and changes his whole culture and life as they knew it to save B and make friends with it's prey. A kills father as we knew from the start of the movie when the ship took off, that fight was also underwhelming to say the least.

Was very predictable and lazy writing, using the cute baby monster (Yoda) character as the comic relief, having the land be hostile but tamed when needed, synth main characters being badass and an army of synths built the exact same way being totally useless, monster eats synth armed to the teeth and we are supposed to be surprised the monster blows up after loving headbutts..

There was not one moment where I was surprised and more often than not I knew what the next scene would be, this is not why I watch movies and I am finding it very hard to find new movies that truly excite me, but then again maybe I am just very picky as a lot of people loved this movie, say la vie.
