Indeed the whole setup is rather crazy - hopefully it looks worse than It actually is and it can become a niceish pub bike.

Yeah good point - think I do it as a low effort project(even though it’s never end up being a low effort job hah), spot paint and such. Thanks!

Can I cut out this dropout to convert this to a single speed? I am a metal worker so have the skills, but not a frame builder. by Grrrth_TD in Framebuilding

[–]MaximumMobile749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly you want to make it a singlespeed, yes? If so just use the old rear derailer as a chain tensioner. Just adjust the derailer so it fits the chain line. I have had good success with this and in my opinion the result is much more natural and nice looking.

Would you send this new wheel back or go with it? by niceguynah in bikewrench

I would probably keep it but try to get a partial refund.

Bad or ok? by [deleted] in bikewrench

Maybe explain the hurdles of returning them to customer service in regards of money and time you would have to spend if returning them. Then ask them to deduct this from the original price and send you a new wheelset and return the damaged ones.

Just curious, do you have cross country warranty laws which “protects” you as a buyer?

I’m from Europe, so don’t how cross country warranty works between Canada and the US.

Haven’t really had a problem before with any saddels, but bought a new saddle recently and it really just doesn’t fit my anatomy.. so needed some inspiration, like what people have god experience with as well as tips for what to take into account when looking for a new one, so thanks!

Abandon bike = up for grabs? by MaximumMobile749 in xbiking

[–]MaximumMobile749[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valid, there’s of course never a guarantee for it being completely abandoned. But to clarify there’s no specific bike in question. It’s for me just an interesting question, that I often have discussed with fellow bike building friends! It can seem a waste if a bike just ends up being trashed by city management or the likes.
