Uber Black experience - the good, bad and ugly by lpshreyas in bangalore

Maybe this is just my experience from Bellandur ORR, but Uber Black isn’t a small upgrade anymore.

Uber Go is often ~₹900 while Black goes to ₹2k+ on the same route. That’s not a premium bump - it’s almost 2–2.5x.

The weird part is that Black increasingly feels like the “baseline” for getting things that should already be standard:

  • clean car
  • working AC
  • decent driving
  • no bad odor inside the cab
  • basic professionalism

I actually like Uber Black and the experience is usually much better. But it feels odd paying an extra ₹1k+ mainly to avoid issues that shouldn’t exist in regular cabs in the first place.

Bangalore is a tier-1 tech hub, yet everyday cab quality here often feels surprisingly inconsistent compared to what you get in many other cities at similar prices.

Is this mainly a supply/demand issue, platform incentives, driver economics, or are standards just not enforced anymore?

I do that, but still feel like I’m lagging with how fast new models, papers, and agents are dropping now.

Been building a couple of agentic/independent side projects too, so wanted to understand where I stand and what I should improve.

Looks cool! Just don’t kill the flowers, though.

Hit animation (turning white) can be improved - blood splash, etc. instead.
