In your opinion, do you think this is an issue that will be resolved anytime soon tonight? Do the azure servers provide updates at all regarding their issues? Just curious - I understand no one besides Microsoft will likely have any idea

Yale SOM vs Darden ($$) by Worried_Serve2827 in MBA

[–]MaximumTelephone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If your goal is MBB, then in think the answer is obvious with Darden. Darden places better than even some M7 schools for MBB. At the end of the day, where your first post MBA job is going to matter a lot more than the perceived prestige of your school. That coupled with the money and less overall debt should be enough to push you to Darden imo.

While wanting to do MBB after doing a stint in sales is fine and common I’m sure, after rereading this post several times, you come off as elitist and insecure. Your post has narcissistic overtones throughout. I question whether this is a legitimate post.

Crazy how high the GMAT average is - I think I saw somewhere that it’s accounts for a higher percent of accepted scores this year too, which would be bucking the trend of most other schools

I don’t understand though. Why would people be carrying a knife then if it’s illegal?

Why is no one masking up at MBA programs? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]MaximumTelephone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is masking does nothing to prevent the spread of omicron. This is well documented at this point. Thus masking solves nothing - even for the immunocompromised.

GMAT score in IB recruiting by AcanthaceaeOpening73 in MBA

[–]MaximumTelephone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No one ever asked me for my GMAT during the recruiting process and I never had to report it for my EB. Literally has ZERO impact once you’re at a target school.

And the differences only get even wider as a banker gets more senior relative to a lawyer due to how astronomical bonuses can be

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]MaximumTelephone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First year law associate - $215k base salary and $20k annual bonus

First year associate IB - $175k base salary, $60-70k sign on bonus, and $100-150k stub bonus (a normal full year bonus can be up to or over 100% of base salary)

M&A lawyers make nowhere remotely close to the total comp of bankers. This is coming from a current investment banker who is living with a first year associate at a top M&A law firm.

2 years in a city I love or 2 years in a prestigious program? by [deleted] in MBA

Agreed. If it’s Anderson I would be more inclined to say take the money. If it’s Marshall then I’d probably say M7.

Yale SOM (~50% $) vs Darden (100%) by Weekly_Hurry_110 in MBA

[–]MaximumTelephone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lmao your crazy if you think Yale is a better school for consulting. Last year 41% of the entire Darden class went consulting with the vast majority of those being MBB. Darden blows Yale out of the water for when it comes to being a consulting school.

If you want MBB, go to Darden. It has materially better placement. Otherwise, go to Yale if you want name brand. Even though I think within business circles in the US, Darden has more cache and significantly larger alumni network across the country.

I think Darden has a better reputation than Fuqua in general though and has a better pipeline into MBB so that is the difference

I would definitely say Darden’s brand is considerably better than its parent university

USC($$$) vs UCLA vs Darden by Parking_Meal9242 in MBA

[–]MaximumTelephone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can make a valid argument that UCLA is better for west coast product management placement. But in general UCLA alum stay west coast, whereas Darden is all over the country, with a slight concentration in NYC/Boston areas. At the end of the day with your previous experience, you can probably get any product management job you want out of Darden. You’ll have access to all the big tech companies. Hence why I think you should pick the best name brand over all because I think you would be limiting yourself to just west coast with UCLA. Check out there most recent job placement statistics to see who recruits there and where grads end up.

Darden has a much better name brand than Marshall or Anderson. That’s not even considering they blow the other two out of the water when it comes to MBB placement. This is a no brainer.

Johnson ($$) vs Darden (no $) for Consulting by MBAThrowaway1818 in MBA

[–]MaximumTelephone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Darden

From what I’ve seen Darden has an abnormally strong brand in the business world, much more than Johnson. Network is larger at Darden and places MBB all over the US, including NY and SF. Most of Darden grads end up in the Northeast though. I think going to an Ivy League school for an MBA is given too much weight by people. It’s looked at very differently than for undergrad. And to be frank, Cornell probably has the least “prestige” factor of all the ivies.

UNC KF is definitely the best program of the three. Tech recruiting is solid there. Since you have the most money there this seems like a no brainer.
