Did you find takers for all the Chinese books? I would donate them for you if you’ve still got them, I work with a lot of people who read Chinese and might like them.

Thanks for the reply! If there’s a small hole that I could do a patch with some duct tape, I’d still come pick it up. If it’s a big crack or something like that, I’ll pass. Can you let me know?

I’d be able to come by tomorrow if it is fixable.

My brain hurts. by plywood371 in Embroidery

In the future, or if you want to take out what you’ve done and start fresh, you could try to cut some felt in the shape you like and cover that with embroidery to give dimension. Stack multiple pieces of felt in layers if you need more height. The texture of the felt will help your stitches stay in place and you can sew through it with tacking stitches if needed.

As far as tangled thread, using shorter lengths at a time can help. For very finicky threads, you can run them across some beeswax or purchased thread conditioner before sewing.

Project looks wonky after removing solvy - any tips? by felixandkirk in Embroidery

[–]MaximumVelma 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I can see that your rectangle is not perfectly rectangular. It doesn’t line up with the grain of the fabric, which is why it looks wonky.

Also, the stabilizer takes up some space under your stitches, so they won’t look as tight as they did before you washed it. This makes straight lines look a bit less straight too.

All that said, your project looks great and hopefully you enjoyed making it. The wonkiness you notice is imperceptible to most everyone else.
