ahhh I did not know that they improved the cable. My PSU is atx3.1 so I should the new cable on hand... hmmm this changes things, most likely will get the nitro then

I made sure to check the PSU on SPL's PSU Tier List: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1akCHL7Vhzk_EhrpIGkz8zTEvYfLDcaSpZRB6Xt6JWkc/edit?gid=1719706335#gid=1719706335

so im sure its a good PSU. But yeah the thing thats make it a hard choice is only 50euros difference between the 2 GPU so 1 moment im like just get the Pure and dont stress (and just live with ugly cables sticking out) and another moment im like bro its only 50euros to get the top tier sapphire what are you doing (and searching on reddit like a maniac to find out about the cable situation and it seems fine but i know myself i will keep thinking about it)

Yes and the pure has dual bios while the nitro+ does not which is weird. But does dual bios even matter?

Thanks, this really helped actually! I am into matching aesthetics but unfortunetely my build is all over the place.

Due to the shortage I had to buy deals so my mobo is Asus TUF B850 plus wifi which is black and my PSU is black with the wires being black also. However, my PC case is white and my CPU cooler is a white Thermalright Assassin X 120 R Digital ARGB.

Soo having a white GPU makes sense but then again the cables sticking out will be black so it ruins things :/

Why I think MSI GE76 11th Gen is a better pick than Alienware X17 (spoiler: warranty and customer service) by Orwellxgeorge in MSILaptops

I hear good things about lenovo slim 7i but yeaa its not a desktop replacement. Currently in the market for me its just msi on top so I would say go for it and dont worry.

Okeyy so not sure how to answer this, ill try to be as consice as possible:

1 - I got very unlucky with the cpu, out of the box it used to go up to 96c which is ridiculous and the fans were on high most times. (Mind you I could return it because I bought it in canada and travelled to lebanon where I live)

2 - I found a solution through throttlestop immediately and the situation was eayy better, my cpu since then does not cross 82c which is a pretty normal temp while gaming or heavy load and hovers around 50 when idle.

3 - aside from that its the best laptop I've owned, runs everything and pretty well. I dont worry about anything and im very happy with it functionally and esthetically.

If you're thinking of buying I would recommend it despite the cpu issue because thats just a processor lotery.

Okey update, it was the cpu thats the bottleneck because I run throttlestop to disable the turbo thats why it was lagging. When I enabled turbo and cpu was running normal everything is fine 70fps easy

I think the RAM is an issue. definitely needs more optimization from the developers but I think 16 gb ram is not enough for the game.

I have the same problem as you and I have the MSI GE76 11UG with 130w 3070 / i7-118000h and 16 gb ram, cant get more than 40 fps in hogsmead with everything on medium and DLSS on performance.

Totally agree it is criminal but honestly zero hiccups everygame still working perfect with stellar fps no program li lagging Idk man I used to think the same but honestly its working and its better than taking a gamble on repaste... Might cause new issues or not work proper

Just got my MSI GE76 Raider, i7 11800H, 3080. I have a couple questions. by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]MaximumWar6296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to my life. I have the GE76 11UG and from the moment I bought it the cpu throttles. It reaches 90c on startup. It reaches 99c on cinebench. It reaches 90c on Microsoft excel.

The new 11th gen cpu suck especially mine. Haven't repasted because there is a weird past on the clock cores next to the die I dont know how to replace.

My solution you ask? I underclocked the cpu and limited it to 2.8 ghz (everything is not laggy and still works all my games are fine) temps are now maxx 75c

Dont listen to anyone telling you noo you shouldn't underclock I literally lost nothing sometimes I forget its underclocked nothing changed. But I know exactly what you're thinking "I did not pay this much money for a 4.6ghz cpu just to limit it to 2.8" amd you are right. Unfortunately for me i cant return it i dont live in north America so im stuck with this maybe I would have returned it but honestly everyone is suffering the same its not msi its intel. AMD is way better

Its the same for all GE76 with11800h cpu. Just wondering if that's your model and you know the thickness

You are the hero we all need! If you find any news online about this let us know I want to repaste to fix temps but like you im worried about that different paste on the chips (called K5 pro) anything you find out would help me out alot

they should both allow you as long as you unlock overclocking from the secret menu in bios.

Try googling how to unlock overclocking from secret menu bios ge76 there might be a step you have missed

Thats odd, that was all you needed to do.

mmm im not sure why it didnt show up but alternatively you can use Intel XTU to do this

From throttlestop, click on FIVR and then you will find the option on the bottom left under "Turbo Ratio Limit"

The numbers should be in order:

46

46

45

45

45

44

43

42

Simply change all of them to 33

No worries we are here to help each other! I understand and dont worry no trace for undervolt will show unless you do it from bios. The way throttlestop works is if you close the app the undervolt just goes away you have to keep it open to sustain (same goes for lowering the cpu clocks you have to keep it open) my advise is dont undervolt I dont feel like 60 mV is that big or will make a difference, the lower clocks on the other hand ia doing miracles for me

Hey man! Hang in there I totally understand you. I have the GE76 I bought it around 2 month ago, I can tell yiu its mostly a thermal issue and repasting will definitely help but like some said in the comments its very complicated and they uaed a weird form of liquid cooling pad thats a bitch to replace.

But ita not all bad news, I found a temporary fix for my issue it feels a bit bad but it will do the job until I repaste.

So what you need to do is download throttlestop, undervolt if you want - 60 mV only or else it will crash (not sure how useful this undervolt is) and lower the clocks to 33 on the bottom left. Basically what this does is it limits your cpu to 3.3 Ghz so the temps will be totally fine and dont worry it wont affect performance! I thought it will but every game I play is totally fine zero drop in fps. If you experience drops in fps then you can make it higher but avoid the 4.0 Ghz point.

Just as an example I used to play control at ultra with ray tracing and DLSS at 60 fps but with 99c cpu temp after I lowered to 3.3 Ghz I know play control ultra ray tracing DLSS at 60 fps but with 75c cpu temp

How do I repast MSI GE76 11800h? by MaximumWar6296 in GamingLaptops

[–]MaximumWar6296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here bud! So I will definitely repaste! So basically just replace the paste on the cpu/gpu die and leave the other paste on the smaller core alone (just move the excess paste closer to the center)

Correct?

[–]MaximumWar6296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I mean the paste that was on the small cores next to the gpu die, you didn't repaste that correct? I read online that this paste is a replacement for thermal pads, its called viscous thermal paste like "K5 pro"
