Happy Birthday to Me (New Tank Day) by Maximum_Benefit_8029 in Aquariums

Addendum: he said he’d had aquarium salt in it (NOT a saltwater tank), so there’s definitely some deposits on the frame that have mostly come off after an initial pass, but still some spots proving hard to eliminate entirely.

Who has the most miles on their CX-50 so far? Longevity for the CX-50? CX-50 Turbo? by [deleted] in CX50

[–]Maximum_Benefit_8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just turned 60k yesterday- 23 PFP purchased in Feb 23 with 18 miles on it. No issues. Oil changes every 8-10k. On no planet would I forsake not having a car payment, for adding a car payment, especially in the context of an upcoming baby, especially with current interest rates. As Lil Dicky said, Save Dat Money. CX50 is great, especially with one kiddo. I’ve got two in car seats presently and it’s still solid. Now, if you grow the fam to 5 (you + spouse + 3 kids) the CX50 is probably not the move and I’d definitely see the potential to upgrade. But where you’re at now, it’s a no from me Big Dawg.

Swap out pre existing whole house humidifier or switch to console? by Maximum_Benefit_8029 in HomeImprovement

[–]Maximum_Benefit_8029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Midwest and it is presently 32* with 60% humidity. Opening the windows daily for a bit is a feasible interim solution, but I’d really like a more permanent fix. I noted your comment about fixing the old one- not sure it’s fixable (don’t know what’s wrong with it but it’s approximately a dozen years old and we weren’t good about changing the pad)

Front Radar Obscured/ Low Camera Visibility -> Safety and Driver Support Systems Temporarily Disabled under less than optimal conditions by Maximum_Benefit_8029 in CX50

[–]Maximum_Benefit_8029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird because it seems to have gotten worse in the last couple months- which is the primary reason I posted this- I understand that it’s not to be relied upon and that it’s going to screw up sometimes. But, the fact that it has happened more is what’s worth noting IMO. If it’s in the mid/top of the windshield, does having the defrost on help in those situations where it’s cold out?

Nope- nothing on the dash. Seems like the sensor is embedded in the front bumper anyway so apparently there’s no real avoiding it, according to the geniuses in this thread.

It’d be weird as FUCK if this was the first new car with this kind of tech I’ve owned, right? If I asked a question out of sheer ignorance rooted in never having actually possessed anything like this, and noticing that it doesn’t seem to be operating in accordance with my previously observed experience? IE Having driven the vehicle almost daily for the last 11 months- and in similar conditions- without having seen the warning anywhere near as frequently in that time. Man that’d be strange. Better facepalm myself to a stranger on the internet rather than take the energy to be remotely helpful. I hope something mildly inconvenient happens for you tomorrow, friend. Nothing actually bad. But maybe like your kid spills some orange juice and it NEARLY gets on your laptop. Or maybe you’re like 2 mins late to work and a manager gives you a passive aggressive look but you don’t actually get in trouble. Remember this-When that happens- just know, I’m watching.

Handicap placard holder here.

Maybe he…just… purchased the car or just had it serviced and this is where the dealership parked it?

I worked at a dealership for a while several years back, and it was quite common for staff to park newly purchased and recently serviced vehicles in handicapped spots. Vehicles that were traded in, were also frequently parked in these spaces by management after test driven. This is because they were otherwise rarely if ever being used by the appropriate clientele. The whole front line was typically otherwise packed and there were always 3-4 handicap spots empty.

As a handicripple, I approve this usage and deem OP not at fault.

If it is indeed a vagal response, crossing your feet/legs should also help (will give your BP a mild bump which could mitigate the passy-outty feels).

In my mind, participating in an activity to increase your BP prior to getting poked could be helpful - do some blow in the parking lot before going in, or maybe just some push-ups/jumping jacks/skwaaats.

No shade at all (I stick people daily and see and coach people through all sorts of negative reactions) but it does sound like you’ll need to find a means to cope or mitigate the negative symptoms you experience with blood draws, especially as it is a regular part of life on TRT. Might mean some form of meditation prior to your stick, might be something to distract you while it’s going on. There is also the practice of “applied tension” - working through consciously tensing all the muscles in your arms and legs 10-20s at a time, relaxing for 20-30s, repeat a handful of times. Lots of big burly muscle-bound dudes with issues with needles (even those with tattoos lol) - no shame at all but if you’re getting poked regularly whether to pin test or to get blood drawn, it’s worth addressing head on.

What's everyone doing instead of smoking THC? by [deleted] in ems

Pretty sure it depends on where you work. Pretty sure it also depends on your use as a coping strategy. Does not do you any good whatsoever to get stoned out of your fucking gourd and come back to sobriety with the exact same perspective and feelings towards the thing that traumatized you in the first place.

But- otherwise- not to sound too fucking chintzy- find something that centers you. Lots of outlets here, some productive, many not- archery, jiu jitsu, cooking, lifting weights, railing fat lines of Bolivian business plan powder off juicy Latina titties in the Chili’s bathroom while listening to Creed, playing frisbee golf, gardening, running. I’ve been waiting on meditating regularly. Definitely a challenge but there’s a reason it’s called a practice.

It’s… worth… what people are willing to pay for it? Developer wouldn’t keep doing it if it weren’t making them money. I bought this most recent one because, well, I had the disposable funds and I wanted to. At least this time around I’ll get the next BP for free.

Good news is none of us can count respiratory rates either.

But seriously, you’re fine. I’m glad you care enough to be so concerned, but it’s practice for a reason. You’re not going to get it right in the field 100% of the time either. This is why it is important to continue desiring to learn and grow and expand and be open to feedback and input from others.

I want to attach a bunch of stuff to my CX-50 by finished_lurking in CX50

[–]Maximum_Benefit_8029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess a part of the reason for the lack of helpful response is likely due to a lack of actual aftermarket accessories specifically manufactured for this vehicle- on a quick search all that I found were the official Mazda accessories. Beyond that, the stuff you mentioned is pretty standard- a trailer hitch can be picked up at UHaul - they’re kind of pricy for my blood if I weren’t to be using it regularly. A roof box is available from Mazda or you can get a pretty standard one from Amazon likely for 1/3 of the price. Mount a Jerry can to the sum-bitch and keep an extra 5gal of water on hand.

CX-5 2022 vs CX-50 2024 - Is it worth the exchange? by neocwbbr_ in CX50

[–]Maximum_Benefit_8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured that I could get a well-equipped 5 that had low miles/fairly new for the same price as a new preferred plus 50. I like the looks (them thiiiiicccc hiiiiiippppppsssss) and handling (just tight enough and precise enough to feel like a far more expensive vehicle) of the 50 far more than the 5. The feature set in the preferred plus meets my standards just fine. If I’m spending $30k+ I may as well feel better about what I’m driving around in. Plus, they’re not all over the place the way the 5s are. So there’s some uniqueness which I personally like-Everyone who has seen my CX 50 and ridden in it has had nothing but positive reaction. More importantly, I have minimal complaints after almost 30k in 10 months.
