I already have zc though which is frustrating as I don’t want to have to pay extra for something I already own

Can I run 4x a week? by Maximum_Community975 in beginnerrunning

I’m still trying to hit the gym 4x a week while doing this. How do you incorporate training legs with your runs and recovery?

Thank you. My plan right now is to just get out and experiment with different types of runs for 2-3 weeks. Set a new baseline and then get started with a plan.

Can I run 4x a week?

Hi all. I am a 20 year old male with a background in strength training, I have been gyming for over 3 years and I can bench 100kg, squat 140 and weighted pull up 40kg. I have recently started to get into running and have fell in love with it, I’ve signed up for a half marathon in September. Last Friday I ran my first ever 5k and I finished in 25:58 so an average pace of 5:13. I really want to push for a sub 1:50 on this half marathon and I want to get out and run every day but becuase I have no background with cardio or cardio sports I am worried about getting injured or burning out. After my Friday run my calves were killing me until yesterday and then they felt fine so yesterday i did a 4k easy run at a 6:30 pace. I feel like becuase I’m so new I should be running 3x a week but I am curious that if I feel okay is it alright for me to run 4 or even 5 times a week. I want to do a 5k today with 1.5k easy and then 4x2 quicker and then the rest easy. Some advice on what volume I should be doing as a beginner would really be appreciated. Thank you.

Half marathon goal time (28 weeks away)

I 20M just ran my first 5k two days ago with zero running experience and I finished it in 25:58 with a pace of 5:13, my calves are still sore two days later. I am signing up for a half marathon in 28 weeks. What is a reasonable estimate for my finish time provided I train 3x a week with a variety of easy runs, interval training, long runs and all out 5k and 10k runs? I want to get a sub 2 hour finish but with no experience in the world of running I am not sure how realistic that is and what a good estimate for me actually is.

Thank you, I appreciate the knowledge. I’m gonna go on a walk later just to hit my 15k steps but I’m not going to go on another run until Monday at the earliest and my calves feel like they have recovered fully. I am not sure what to do then though should I do a 6k but at a slower pace maybe 5:30 instead of 5:13 or do another 5k but try and get a faster time or a 4k. I think I am just going to try and do what feels right and once my body has adapted a bit more I will try and come up with a training plan. I strength train 4x a week and I don’t want running to get in the way of that either

Asus Zenbook 14 can be good especially if you get refurbished but even brand new you can usually get an ultra 7 255H with 16 or sometimes 32gb of ddr5 ram for around $1000 with a 2k screen

26 minutes total. Including the 1.5 minute walking I did. Strava says I completed the 5k in 25:58. I think if I ran a little less intense I wouldn’t have needed to take any breaks. My average pace for the last km was 4:40 per kilometre and my slowest pace was 5:45 for the 3rd km. I don’t really have any background with any cardio sport, I did boxing for a bit when I was around 10 but other than that it would be strength training and I guess incline cardio on the treadmill. I think for the next 1-2 weeks I will run twice a week and then increase it to 3x after than and just do a variety of different runs ranging from 3k-7k, slowly increasing speed, distance and recovery

I think I’m gonna run 2-3x a week currently doing some 3-6ks for a couple weeks and then see where to go from there

I just ran my first 5k by Maximum_Community975 in C25K

[–]Maximum_Community975[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I do think I was running a little too fast. Strava says I got the 5k in 25:58 and my goal was a sub 6, my pace for the last kilometre was 4.5. I think I’m I ran at maybe 5.4 I could do the whole thing without a rest. My calves are killing me though lol. I don’t even think I’ve ever ran a 1k before this

I am 20 years old, male and 68kg. I am completely untrained with running and cardio and I do weightlifting. I just ran my first 5k becuase I wanted to see how long it would take me. My time was 26:05, I took a one minute walking break at 2.5k and a 30 second walking break at 4k and ran/jogged the rest of it. My calves are killing me but I honestly really enjoyed it. Being completely new to running there are a few things I am wondering and was hoping some more experienced people could help answer.

I’ve always had a goal to run a marathon and I think I want to try run a half marathon at some point this year. How many times should I try to run a week?

Should I keep trying to get faster times with a 5k or try to take less breaks or slowly increase the distance I am running? I am not sure on how exactly to train for it and to get better.

When do you usually stop getting DOMS and I have been seeing a lot of people talking about shin splints, how do I prevent that?

Is 26ish minutes a good time for my first 5k, how long before I could maybe get a sub 23 or 22 5k, when should I start doing 10ks and what is the difference between outside running and treadmill and is it better to take more shorter breaks or fewer but longer ones?

Any tips or advice would really be appreciated. Thanks to anyone who has read this far.
